This movie is devastating. The conflict inside may never leave. For so much of the film I just didn't know what to feel, the anger, the heartache, the hope, the despair. In the end, this was so difficult to watch, but I'm so glad I did.

There is no work of art, no book, no play, no painting or music or movie that could truly capture the depths of depravity and horror of systematically slaughtering over 6 million human beings. The genius of Schindler's List is that it takes this one story, this singular thread and allows the viewer the slightest glimpse of the horrific tapestry of the Holocaust. Spielberg was criticized by Stanely Kubrick and Terry Gillium, among others, for making a "feel-good" Holocaust movie, but I completely disagree with that take.

This is incredibly accurate. Nothing could ever capture the devastation and even though this film highlighted a "feel good" story, I don't think it leaves the viewer feeling good about any of it.

I watched this when I was 13. It was really difficult then, and even more difficult now as a mother. This movie was the impetus of my desire to learn about history, and especially the history of the Second World War. So much violence and death, and for what?

Oddly it's one of those things where the more life experience you get the more difficult it becomes for so many reasons. It's definitely worth learning about, but even with all the knowledge one could attain I'm not sure the "what" could ever be adequately answered.
