A worthy sequel to an iconic film. I have zero regrets choosing to watch this one! It may have left the unique structure of the first film behind, but narratively it made all the right moves.

We need to change the title. “2010: A Star is Born” (There. Fixed it).

FYI. In Clarke’s novel, 2010: Odyssey Two, he names the star Lucifer. (From Google: “The Latin word ‘lucifer’ means ‘morning star’ or, as an adjective, ‘light-bringing.’”) To most of the audience, it would mean ‘Satan’, so I understand why they didn’t include it in the movie. I wish they did (for its original Latin definition). And check the credits again for a treat: Helen Mirren plays ‘Tanya Kirbuk’ a rough anagram to Kubrick. When the nurse drops the magazine she is reading, it’s TIME magazine, with the American and Soviet presidents on the cover. But look closer. The American president is Arthur Clarke, and the Soviet President is Stanley Kubrick.
