Yes, do make time for yourself to watch 'Blood Simple'. The Coens know the noir tropes and skillfully use them, but they also subvert and play with them a bit, as they do in 'Fargo'. It's also the source of one of the Easter eggs in 'The Big Lebowski'. It's McDormand's film debut as well as the Coens, and the first time she slept with the director of the film (j/k, they started dating and married after production wrapped). And she wasn't even supposed to be in the movie; the Coen's first choice, Holly Hunter, had a prior commitment so she suggested they let her roommate audition. The brothers gained a star for multiple movies, and Joel a 40-year-and-counting marriage.
