WOW. This is clearly a top tier Doctor Who story. The characters are instantly likable. There’s so much intrigue and I’m left with so many questions. Love this one!

This is based on a novel about the Seventh Doctor (played by Sylvester McCoy, now probably best known outside the show as Radagast in The Hobbit). It was instantly seen as one of the crown jewels of the new series, and got an extra boost of publicity a few years later by happening to feature two future Game of Thrones stars, Thomas Brodie-Sangster (then best known for Love Actually and as an adult for The Queen’s Gambit) and Harry Lloyd (a direct descendant of Charles Dickens who’s done several adaptations of his books).

One of my favourite stories in Doctor Who ever, it's so amazing. Great Reaction! 😎

Ahhh, I need the conclusion part 2

Just subscribed because I wanted to catch your reaction to this two-parter! Really, really enjoyed it! Especially your facial expression when the episode ended on that cliff-hanger xD Can't wait for tomorrow!

I'm so behind that I literally have Casual Nerd homework at this point (BSG 4x12 and this). Why do we have to work for a living. It's such a scam.

I really love the fact that we have taken the word that means "get up and run 26 miles" and made it also mean "sit on your butt for 26 episodes." (I much prefer the word "marathon" to "binge" when it comes to watching TV. "Binge" has negative connotations for a lot of people, so I tend to avoid it. It's a nice bonus that we've turned "marathon" into a contronym, like bound, cleave, out, off, etc.)

I love that you understood the assignment right from the start. Those were the most random few minutes in Doctor Who and you knew that something amazing was coming. Did you know this was a 2-parter ahead of time, or is it just amazing coincidence that this is the week you are doing 2 Doctor Who's?

Ooh if you do read it, please let us know your thoughts.

Okay I LOVE your reaction to this, because you so vibe with how Doctor Who works. "Will we find out how this happened? Who knows! Doesn't matter because we're in the story!" A million times yes. The watch was part of the TARDIS control panel in series 1. You can see it when the Ninth Doctor is moving controls around in The End of the World and there's a shot of his hands. When John Smith tells Nurse Redfern about his parents, he says his father was Sidney and his mother was Verity. Sydney Newman was one of the creators of Doctor Who, and Verity Lambert was the first producer (what we would now call a showrunner). In John Smith's storybook, there are sketches of lots of creatures and people you recognized -- there are also sketches of the faces of the First, Seventh, and Eighth Doctors, and partial sketches of the Fifth and Sixth, whom you might not recognize. (We do see John Smith eating a pear, which is funny as referenced in previous comments -- and here's the full 90-second clip David Tennant had to record in regular time in order for there to be something for Martha to fast-forward through: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGG0RSgJT1I I recommend watching it -- it's got David talking about a the best concert he ever went to, as well as complete gobbledygook, but at regular-speech tempo.) I'm once again not sure if it would be a spoiler to point out something that was very clearly noticeable, so I will err again on the side of -- no, actually, you've already watched the second episode, so I'll say it! 😃 In the flash of Tim Latimer in the middle of a dark battlefield, we are meant to recognize it as World War I. The episode was originally set in 1914, but they moved it back to 1913 so that it would be clear that what Tim sees in that flash is his near future, not a battle he has already been in. Since I've already cleared with you how you feel about these kinds of information tidbits (such as Harold Saxon), one of the things we hear when the watch is opened is the Doctor's own voice saying "You are not alone." This was originally the fourth (and fifth) episode of series 3. It was moved to the eighth and ninth positions in the series for reasons I can't tell you about right now. There are a few minor production errors which are pretty funny but they're generally not noticeable on first viewing, so I'll just do this in case you (or any readers) don't want to know about little goofs: Wbna chgf gur fgrgubfpbcr va ure rnef onpxjneqf juvyr yvfgravat gb Wbua Fzvgu'f bar urneg. Qhevat gur fubbgvat gnetrg cenpgvpr fprar, lbh pna frr n ohf qevir ol va gur qvfgnapr. Looking forward to tomorrow!!

I didn’t know for sure! I suspected one would be coming though and since I’m starting to release more I want to try to put them together when possible.

Just unfortunate that they gave her a name identical to a popular slang term for "great" at the time, so now that no one uses it anymore, she just sounds like a Pokemon.

😅 Possibly my favorite two-parter so far. One day I'll rewatch everything and maybe feel differently, but I loved this one
