Revelations indeed! I absolutely loved how this story was handled and firmly cements Col Tigh as one of my favorite characters in this show. Naturally, this leaves me with all the questions about what’s next. I’ll see you in six months! (Or next week 😉)

I'll be watching the condensed version on my lunch break and the full version tonight. I've already flailed at you about this episode, so I'll leave it at that for now, and see if I have more to say after watching the full reaction.

For full context, the original show had them get to regular 1980s Earth after two seasons, and was retooled into the crew assimilating and helping out the government. And it was a total disaster, with the renamed Galactica 1980 seeing its ratings drop like a brick, and it’s still remembered as one of the worst TV shows ever made. Despite which, a lot of fans just casually assumed this show was going the same way, and there was many a “What the frack?” after this episode. And it’s made all the more shocking for coming after perhaps the greatest expression of pure joy ever put onscreen, including the best work Bear McCreary ever did for the show. And then, of course, there was the waiting, and discussing if this was in the far future, some alternate reality, or even might not be the “real” Earth at all. I especially remember one guy who found that final shot was a pretty close match for a place in Australia, which led to a lot of people wondering if that would be an important part of the remaining half season. Of course, I’m not saying a word about who if anyone turned out to be right.

Oooooo boy. This was nearly the series finale!!! Could you imagine watching this show for 4 seasons, from where we started to here and that was it??? They had shot the next episode, but Ron Moore said in a 2008 convention that if the show ended because of the writers strike, this would be the final episode and not the next one. I cannot stress enough how much I respect Ron and company to have the absolute BALLS to take us to this point and beyond.

"I especially remember one guy who found that final shot was a pretty close match for a place in Australia" -- a lot of people thought the view was of (ruined) Lower Manhattan, considering the show was conceived/written very much in the immediate post-9/11 era. I remember the Australia theory as well, and there were a few others. (For the curious: it was filmed in Vancouver) What I can say without spoiling is that the specific ruins we see where our heroes are standing are (what's apparently left of) the Temple of Aurora - if you look at what Lee is viewing at the beginning of the episode, it's a domed structure by a body of water, and what we see at the end is very much the bones of that. What's interesting is that it is also what the City of the Gods on Kobol looked like (both have been shown to you at this point in the series in illustrations and exploration). The Book of Pythia says that the 13th Tribe built a temple to Aurora on Earth. So, planned repetition? Wild coincidence? Happened before/happened again? Maybe something else? Wait and see (please allow six months for delivery)!

OH speaking of the Temple of Aurora -- when Starbuck gave Adama that winged figurine to serve as the figurehead on his sailing ship model way back when, that was the goddess Aurora -- meant to guide them to Earth, just as Leoben and The Hybrid have said Starbuck would guide them.... Loved your comment about it being a good thing the model ship wasn't there for EJO to wreck again 😂

I’m not going to spoil any specifics for you, but I want to give you a little mental preparation. The next 4 episodes are the very darkest of the entire series.

I still get surprised by James Callis' hairy chest.

episode titles are not matching the episode numbers ..

It's so uniform and luxuriant, and he otherwise looks like a 36-year-old twink.
