A marvelous Adventure Story. The start of a franchise in an alternate universe? Definitely an enjoyable film and a different take on the origins of Sherlock Holmes.

Well, frick-a-doodle. Ya missed the post credits bit, Chris. Here it is so you don't have to bother finding it (obviously a spoiler). https://youtu.be/E4k80wFrh2c?si=gA4yAkPlweIX782H

I hated this movie when I first saw it. (Was 5 or 6?) But only because of 2 bits: The girl screaming as she's waxed to death *really* upset me. Watson's hallucination of adorable pastries jamming themselves in his mouth gave me many-a-nightmare *and* made me scared of the California Raisins.

Oh...quite funny that you hummed the Indiana Jones theme at the start. Critics refered to this as Sherlock and The Temple of Doom for obvious reasons. Roger Ebert said it was derivative of Indy, not truly a Sherlock Holmes strory, but just too damned fun to not like. Which, word.

It's amazing how I remembered every note of this score. It may have been 40 years ago, but I listened to this soundtrack a LOT. "He rebuilt it already? That would be an impressive feat…." Watson's narration just previous to Holmes' search for the trophy (followed by Waxflatter's 7th flight) said we were in his second term at that point, so it had been several months since the 6th flight (the day that Holmes and Watson met). "Don't make Elizabeth the fifth princess! … They never listen to me." Ain't it always the way? "In a different universe, this could have been a whole franchise." — I agree, though it does bear a little bit of '80s pacing. I'd love to see a reimagining today. The actor who plays Watson, Alan Cox, is Brian Cox's son (Brian Cox is the father on Succession, along with many many other roles including Stryker, the guy who "made" Wolverine in the X-Men films). He's my favorite actor in the film by far. So nice to revisit this film!
