Squid boy Kayla (Inkling) (Patreon)

So this was a super fun experiment! I feel like I should keep this design as a separate character, Kind of like a reincarnation of Kayla. I did have to change the hair colour slightly as Black and red looked really odd. I took much inspiration from various Splatoon art which really helped with this. I have so many more personal artworks on the way! Though Most of them will be cell shaded like this one to save on time.

When designing characters the most important things are colour pallet and outfit. Too many colours can be quite jarring especially when done incorrectly. My advice would be to add the brightest and most contrasting colours to the smaller elements of the character (hair, eyes, Beans).

An outfit also really helps with the personality of a character. Finding something that fits a characters personality is a key factor in character design. I feel like there aren't many furry artists who take advantage of this.
