Alright, maybe The Tuxedo wasn't a fair movie to introduce Jackie Chan with, so here's a frankly great movie starring him and punished Pierce Brosnan- The Foreigner! A nung chinese veteran loses everything in a resurgent IRA bombing, so goes absolutely ape shit tracking down the CEO of the IRA - Gerry Adams!

No, Alice was right.

I was going to write a long rant about how Alice is wrong, and Jackie gets wrecked in tons of fights. I was going to link The Young Master final fight and everything. But I relistened and she makes a valid point. Even when Jackie is getting his shit rocked he is simply too athletic, and his movements too animated to convey a believable sense of injury or exhaustion. Anyway Devon is right too, cheers.

Watched this with some friends last night, and I was honestly surprised the movie didn't go anywhere with the fact that the wife also had the exact same motivations as Jackie. She's mad that the people who killed her brother were allowed to go to jail instead of being executed. The main differences between her rampage of revenge and the protagonist's is that she had to do it in deceptive lady ways instead of based protag direct action ways.

it's got our name on it

7:39 ... huh ... does your bromly also have the sewage treatment plant and settleing ponds ?

I appreciate that this movie's take on the Met is "Probably wouldn't take a bribe, would torture and murder a woman." If at some point you'd like to return to Ireland for an episode I'd love to hear your takes on "Michael Collins", a light hearted romp about a time British intelligence forces got what was coming. Featuring Bond alum Charles Dance and Julia Roberts doing the second worst Irish accent in history - giving Devon full licence to really go whole hog.

10:00 He's Gevvy Adams.

Can’t believe we got one bad ass old man Jackie Chan movie but 3 bad ass old Liam beds on movies

I would have respected the choice to have all Liam Hennessy's lines dubbed over, like when Gerry Adams would appear on BBC News

Uh ra up the ra

Biggest problem with the movie is that “time bomb with two minutes to go” is literally the least likely scenario in which torture will help you

we're a bit past the era for them, but i think the first Incredibles movie might be fun to do a bonus episode on. it's got the 60's-spy aesthetic and motifs, the music slaps, and it even has robots blofeld!

Bromley *is* the worst London suburb. I'd also like to speculate that the Wagatha Christie method of investigation also came from this movie because No Time to Die is not the only one to use that.

Holy shit I’ve just realised I read the book this was based on when I was about 13

Was this Chinese produced cause this seems very PRC

Excellent discussion and I do agree with both sides. That being said, I am looking forward to the Court's discussion of Puma Man's Donald Pleasance as elder abuse or willful camp.

I watched this before listening to the podcast and one element of the movie im surprised they didnt bring up on either side is chance. They only stop the bombing by chance as the flight was delayed, and pierce brosnan being flipped by the british (which would of course be hideous for ireland) is only undone by chance also because jackie chan goes to the right conclusion, that he was involved with the attacks, because he takes the false lead that the go between guy planted as real. I could see different readings of it, both nihilist and anti-violence, but i do think it contributes to the text substantially
