You know our rules. It's the second movie in a series or nothin, Babey! And to this end we watched the incredible 'Spy Kids 2; The Island of Lost Dreams' with our dear friend Tom Walker. Written, Directed, Produced, and I think even Scored by Robert Rodriguez, It's got a star-studded cast, it's fast-paced, irreverent, and it's executive producer is Harvey Weinstein! Whats not to love?

The spy kids episodes are my facial electrolysis appointment playlist. Bout an episode a go, light surreal bullshit to escape to while I'm stoned af getting face tased.

Memory unlocked: took a child to see “Real Steel” (2011 movie). Said child declared happily that it was “the best movie since SpyKids 2.” I had no idea what that meant. I still don’t.

Like I love this and the first movie so much and I am trying to be mature enough to handle 3 British people dunk on my childhood, it’s very hard

Anonymous

Great choice by our classically educated and erudite trio to bring on a guest who is smart in... other ways! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ29r405Obc

Jamie Evenstar

I remember seeing this one at least a few times as a kid. Actually, I think I saw 1, 2 and 3 2 times each at like daycare or school.

Play the Kill James Bond drinking game! Drink each time - Alice - Says genuinely, fully, or says also - Says interesting/bizzare/fantastic/etc line - Says I have been thinking about this in my dreams/gonna be thinking about this/sleep paralysis demon Abi - says not entirely clear in a trailing off fashion - makes a joke about the gender identity clinic, a character becoming trans/etc - makes a funny voice/impression/noise Devon - whenever they say that fucking goes / mad about plothole or setup/reminder/payoff - each time they clap - each time they say dudes/girls rock

Acelin

did somebody ring the binkster(tom walker)

Ignatius

gonna have to fix this before Devon sees it and makes you pay the misgendering fee (pronouns are they/them)

Adam Fairris

I was going to apply for grad school, but what could I ever discover that can compare to the dink? What could I create that could match what the dink hath wrought? What, in our hubris, has Man dinked?!

Frontlinecaster

I only ever saw the first one as a kid, it does not feel any less like a fever dream than this one honestly.

Karis Ritenour

I had completely blocked out watching Spy Kids as a child, getting to the Thumb Creatures and just noping out of the movie completely. I cannot stress enough how the first movie is like a normal kids movie for the first half hour and then they get transported to an acid trip hellscape that terrified the crap out of me. Thanks for reminding me of the nightmares! 😂

Bringing back weird childhood memories. Including "The Tuxedo", the absurdly horny Jackie Chan Bondalike movie. I hope it's on your bonus episode schedule.

Lay-Tex-Lips

The thumb creatures are legit called Thumb-Thumbs, and it’s never explained in any of the movies whether they’re supposed to be robots or just some weird ass genetic mutants that Floop built, but to this day they are absolutely terrifying to me

Bees McBee

I constantly think about the fact that the spy kids are canonically the niece and nephew of Machete from the Machete franchise and he is a major character in the first movie. The spy kids movies also apparently canonically take place in the same universe as a bunch of Tarentino movies if you dig deep enough which is very fun.

Looked up daily dinkster and holy shit: https://smplive.fandom.com/wiki/Dinkster_Daily

Ignatius

everyone on the pod ignored it but i would like to acknowledge Abi's "avuncular" pun. i appreciated it

Meonlights

I tell you I watched the first one a LOT and I especially loved Uncle Machete... it wasn't until MUCH later when I learned about the Machete movies lmao.

Dr. Yolo McSwag

Oh no! I just realized they won't get to see the Queen being saved in The Naked Gun 😭

I loved his vibes and how he meshed with the hosts! Felt like a natural addition

I vaguely remember years ago reading somewhere that the casting of these movies was sort of a passion thing, like all these actors just really wanted to do a ridiculous, fun kids' movie.

Tom is a delight on any podcast he graces y'all always have good guests. My good pal made all of us watch the first spy kids while over for the holidays in 2019, what a way to bring in 2020, explains a lot, and I genuinely enjoyed watching it. Sounds like this one was pretty decent and funny to hear the things brought back from the first that you lot had zero context for, loved how much tom loved the thumbs honestly

Anonymous

Just realised that both of the films are built upon an evil antagonist doing horrific genetic experiments, not sure what this says about the time

It sounds like this is the inverse of Cars 2; utter absurdity, but fun instead of brain-melting. E: NVM, sounds like the Dinkster did melt your brain.

Karis Ritenour

Also, if you ever offered merch that was a single page of a KJB transcript as an illuminated manuscript I would pay an unreasonable amount of money for it. Just saying.

Hey fam, we're a long ways away from Casino Royale, but these are too good not to share. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Wa3XecSHuLDbofRi8 https://photos.app.goo.gl/Ts89vEDacrDjzWCU8 P.S. what's the next bonus episode gonna be on?

Anonymous

I listened to this while driving to work and wound up laughing so hard that I choked and then spat up a mouthful of tea. Almost crashed my car and took 2 hours at work to fully dry. 10/10, fucking excellent

John Harwood

Really want to have the SCUM scientific method applied to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

SamuelTurn

God I haven't seen these since I was...10? 11? Also yes please roast the 3rd one it is uniquely bad in funny and interesting ways. Suggestion for future episode: The Beatles HELP! I suspect that C will be at minimum 6 for that one.

DID SOMEBODY RING THE DINKISTER

Anonymous

So apparently Juni Cortez is married to Megan trainor??

Anonymous

If there's one thing funnier than 'Did somebody ring the Dinkster?', its Alice saying deadly serious in reaction to something in the film 'Someone rang the *f u c k i n g* Dinkster'

Anonymous

I love listening to this purely because I am someone who adored and rewatched all three movies many times as a child and them not having any idea what is going on

ZanraiKid

I mean, if KJB are impressed by Pres. Shooter McGavin, the President in Game Over will break their brains.

i do not know if this has been said in a comment and i am far too lazy to check but on bill paxton's wikipedia page there is an image of him as a child in the crowd at THE FUCKING JFK ASSASSINATION AND IM NOT EVEN KIDDING
