I know I’m years late to this but I did want to say…it’s really not surprising there were so many weird rumors about Pokémon Red and Blue because the things that actually WERE in the game were often weirder than the rumors. Infinite item glitch by surfing off the coast of Cinnabar Island? Real. Glitch the Safari Zone Pokémon to appear off the coast of Cinnabar so you can battle and catch them? Real. Hell, even the “Mew is under the truck” thing had some semblance of truth. While there was never a Pokémon there, you absolutely could get to the truck if you surfed over before boarding the SS Anne. So, yeah. I think the reason there were so many rumors associated with early games was that those games really were buggy as shit and a decent number of the rumors were actually true.

Oh shit this is the kind of podcast host crossover I live for, absolutely first class

Not only could you shoot people's hats off, but you could also shoot them in the dick and they'd grab their crotch and slump over a bit.

Non Euclidean Tits is going to be the name of my all trans femme Cosmic Horror themed industrial tinged post-punk/noise rock band.

Love the pod! The audio rss link isn’t working, I just wanted to point that out

I know it isn't entirely Bond-related, but for the love of God have an episode where y'all just talk about New Vegas. I would LOVE to hear that.

New pod rules.

What does this pod and 007 GoldenEye have in common? They both (only) slap.

I did the whole tape on the screen thing for CoD MW2. made akimbo p90 a really viable 'drunk on xbox live' build

Anonymous

This is surprising, as Maxwell Stirling is a Bond-ass name.

You guys should do an episode on Our Man Flint

Ignatius

the essential bit of weird Bond ephemera you need to tackle at some point (perhaps to round off the Connery era) is the Italian spoof film Operation Kid Brother starring Sean's brother Neil

Anonymous

Very weird listing to the experience of people who didn't see the film first.

I wanna see you talk about the worst james bond branded product cause they have had some total stinkers

Anonymous

I second this hearing Alice & Abigail talk about FNV for an hr would be Amazing.

How fluffy is the White Cat of Villainy?

Definitely cover Johnny English at some point, and Daniel Craig parachuting the Queen into the London Olympics

New Vegas, for the Trans

The James Bond game boy game. I played it on my super game boy cartridge as a kid.

The James Bond junior cartoon.

Elsie Hupp

FWIW Riley already beat them to the Bones James Bond episode on The Boney Island Whitefish.

DukeNukem64x

Staw wars Shadows of the empire for n64s debug mode input was terrible you legit needed to use your face but it was so awesome.

Recommendations? I'm honestly REALLY surprised none of you never mentioned Everything or Nothing. It was the predecessor to the "from Russia with love" game but a totally original story that people at the time made a BIG deal about as it was "the first bond game that didn't feel like a shooter with an IP attached.". Might be interesting cus it's WAY heavier on plot then the other bond games.

Another vote for the James Bond Junior cartoon! I watched it every day in kindergarten and never again, I thought I had completely imagined it. Imagine my horror and delight when I found the opening credits on YT!

They keep using a word that sounds like "horntology," what does that mean?

Anonymous

Bonus episode suggestion: DS9 S4E9 “Our Man Bashir” It’s a great homage to early Bond. Also legendary twink energy from early season Bashir.

It's hauntology, as in, "a ghost haunts the mansion". As best I can figure, it's a philosophical idea about how old cultural visions of the future can "haunt" us in the present, influencing behavior and ideology.... I think. Not sure if I've understood it correctly, so I'll link the wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hauntology?wprov=sfla1

SpookyPenguin

I'll reiterate my suggestion that Clouseau the 'stupid policeman' of Pink Panther is Bond-adjacent especially in the 60's period where Swinging London is being sold via cinema and Peter Sellers destroying every deux ex machina he can trip over.

Jorg2

There must be some really weird and wonderful bond merch out there, right? (though that may be a bad one in audio format). Otherwise, weird tie-in media. That must definitely exist too.

Well, THAT means you all obligated to deep dive into the Wii Goldeneye game for a .5 podcast.

spoctopus

Loved this episode, I hope you do an everything or nothing ep. willem dafoe!

I just want to point out that the guy who discovered looking down in Goldeneye speedrunning was a 55 year old guy who barely understood how the internet worked, didn't understand why looking down made him faster, and only did it because he someone saying "put your nose to the grindstone and haul ass" as literally saying to look down

Anonymous

That's so wholesome, that he'd be so unaware of it but beginning something really huge :D

Speaking of friends lying about game secrets, in Super Mario 3 in the bonus room where you can choose from one of three chests, I always chose the right hand chest, because a friend of mine told me it would contain an anchor that would stop the final level ship boss stop auto scrolling xD

Bruce

as a kid I figured "no scientist casualties" must have meant that you wanted to scare the scientists and keep them on their toes, so they weren't behaving too casually

Blakey

IIRC, slaps only wasn't unofficial - one of the actual weapon lists was "slappers only" (!). I think it was compatible with Golden gun mode.

This game used to drive me mad! It's so terrible 🤣🤣
