Summary of art 2021 (Patreon)

The sequel to 2020 is just about over, and I sure hope they don't round out and make it a trilogy. 

This year was marked by ups and downs; my hand pain is still not gone, sadly, which has meant I wasn't able to work as much (though I was probably due for some breaks eventually), and it's made drawing very uncomfortable at times. On the upside however, I made some very important discoveries and level ups - with my understanding of light, of airbrushes and how to do more nuanced shading, of hair flow, etc. The first two breakthroughs in particular were huge. I think this is a massive step up for my art, and I'm really excited for the pieces I've been able to make since then, and the ones to come.

2021 was also marked by the advent of VTubers. Everyone and their dog is a VTuber now, and because of you guys I ended up drawing a bunch of them, and probably will draw a lot more in the future.

Also, and not to bury the lead, but I guess I'm sort of a VTuber now too. I finally started using my microphone for streams, something that was a long time coming, and was very scary, but I'm glad I finally got over it. I'm still not very used to talking, as I've spent the better part of the last decade not speaking to anyone out loud - much less in English - but I'm growing more comfortable each month, as folks continue to spend time with me live. Hopefully the stream becomes more engaging as I grow more comfortable, and gosh darn it I want to reach partner on Twitch!

There were some number milestones too, though I don't think there's much to talk about in that regard; I hit 20k follows on pixiv, 18k on twitter, a few more patrons. Just continuing to grow slowly but steadily. No big spikes yet. :p

And I think that's it. Hopefully 2022 will be a better year. Fingeys crossed.
