The Emperor's New Clothes WIP#3: The Theme! (Patreon)

I'll keep update the process in this post until they're all finished ^^

2021-07-19: The Theme!

This is something I've been struggling for a while since I start this film project. I know what song I'm gonna use, the story I wanted to tell, what characters looks like. But when it come to the setting design and lore/theme, I was kinda blur. If Arthur's an emperor, what nation will he be? Will I use the regular emperor costume for him? Something like that.

Not until last week that I design Merlin as a fish (because of the Mer-thingy, you know? No? Sobs) then it suddenly become clear for me. It's the Poseidon theme! In the past, Arthur might get the knowledge and power from Merlin, the wizard fish, that make everything related to him to be something ocean/sea/fishy later.

Now with the film start, the story will be the same, but the decoration will be an underwater theme liked. All the jewelry will be the pearl, Arthur love the pearl so much he use it for decorate himself more and more (also good for me so I don't have to design man shape of jewelries XD). When he shows up he even pose like Venus, with the shell open and the pearl inside. All the crowd will be pig/swine/boar (so that I can use the term Pearls before Swine later haha).

The sketches above shows some of the idea pictures I came up with when I break down the BG design (stage, backstage and etc.) 

Time to redesign some aspect element! I'm gonna talk to Joshua the composer about this and will keep you update!
