It appears someone is catching feelings for Shirou. I’m really liking how Shirou’s family is becoming a plot point in this.

From how this story is playing out it seems that the original Sekirei did not react to their mates when they first arrived on earth, they chose them like a normal human. The reaction is either something artificial or it only kicks in when both parties have Sekirei DNA, perhaps it was added to make sure that Sekirei only got with humans with sekirei ancestors. This also means that no Sekirei will ever react to Shirou, they will have to be like Akitsu or Kocho and chose him of their own will, which means the harem will be very small, if at all.
