I'm not always in agreement that ALL modern Marvel is trash, but there have definitely been some casualties of the NON-STOP Train process they're trying to keep on the rails. The rush has affected writing very similarly to how it's decimating their VFX people, and I'd like to take their latest Trilogy wrap and break down the very small and very large problems of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Write up is in the linked file below, caution... small spoilers ahead!

I think my problem is similar in that Ant-Man is inherently a very silly premise, which means trying to place him a SERIOUS DRAMATIC MOVIE where he's not part of a larger ensemble falls flat. It worked in Endgame because he was the "comic relief" and could still be the irreverent character because others were carrying the heavier loads. Ant-Man is just...a guy. He's not a soldier, or a scientist, or richer than several small nations. He's just a dude who wants to live his life and gets drafted into ridiculous things. Which is great! It's a great way to ground the audience. But it also makes shifting him into anything other than a "palate cleanser" difficult to impossible.
