So, here’s what happened at the end: This case took place across two days (Sunday, October 10th, which is Eri’s birthday, and Monday, October 11th, which is Health and Sports Day). The crime and initial investigation occur on the 10th, and the resolution occurs the following day. Because Kogoro uses Health and Sports Day to remember Eri’s birthday (since it used to fall on the same day, key word being “used” lol), he screws up as Health and Sports Day now occurs on the second Monday of October, which for them is October 11th. Conan mentions that the holiday used to always be on October 10th. I looked into this, and yeah, in 1998 and 2001, there were modifications to Japanese law that saw several public holidays be moved to Mondays so that a three-day weekend could be created for those who work five days a week. A similar law was enacted here in the US in 1968 that made several public holidays fall on Mondays (Washington’s Birthday/President’s Day on the third Monday of February; Memorial Day on the last Monday of May; Columbus Day on the second Monday of October). As for the preview for Episode 10 (long ass time ago lol), yeah, they sometimes air remastered episodes in place of new episodes. It’s more common nowadays. Kinda sucks that Crunchyroll doesn’t post the remasters. Then again, Aniwave (formerly 9anime) does have an entire section dedicated to the remastered episodes of Detective Conan, so that’s pretty cool. It’s currently up to EP 303. Another fun bit of trivia is this two-parter is the first skippable case for this stretch of episodes. I mentioned before that it surprised me that this case is considered skippable given that Eri appears in it. I suppose it’s because nothing is developed, plot or characters.
