So, here’s an updated movie list for you. I say “updated” since I recently went through your movie reactions for kicks and giggles, and I noticed at the end of your Movie 1 reaction that you said a fan made the movie list you’re following (assuming you’re still following it today). After hearing that, I wondered if that person took the issue I brought up earlier into account when making that list for you. From what I’ve seen in terms of when you watch the movies and where you were at with the anime, it doesn’t seem like it, but they might also have been aware that the earlier movies didn’t really spoil things from the manga unlike the later entries. Either way, compare your list to this one and see if the recommended viewing times line up. I will also post a separate comment soon concerning which website you should for the anime from now. There is something I want to include that I don’t think I mentioned in a previous comment. To explain why the later movies seemingly decided to include details that can be considered as spoilers for those who only watch the anime, there’s a sentence from the website I’m referencing from that is pretty interesting, and the more I think about it, the more I believe is true. Basically, the movies are mainly made for those who only read the manga. This possibly explains the intro sequences all the movies have, which pretty much tell you who and what appears in each movie. Movie 11, after EP 504. This is after the 14-parter, so I imagine it’ll take you a while to get to this one. I did say in a previous post that I would marathon the movies to see which ones spoiled things, and I didn’t really get to that lol school and life happened, and I just ended up focusing on the movies I had seen years ago and ones I had a feeling were absolute bangers (and absolute bangers they were). Although, considering the apparent widespread agreement the fanbase has about this movie, I doubt it spoils anything. Movie 12, after EP 517. Movie 13, after EP 569. As I suspected, this does seem to be the earliest movie to spoil something from the manga (which would be Episode 545-546, which aired six months after this movie was released). Granted, what it spoils is not that earth-shattering. In fact, the thing it spoils get revealed in both Episode 545 and Movie 13. And what makes it funny is that Conan straight up says the exact same thing in response to learning about it. Movie 14, after EP 628. So, this list might become an endurance test for you, since you would have to watch three movies in the 500s, and again in the 600s. If you want, you can probably delay your reaction to Movie 13 given the long gap to Movie 14. Now, there is actually something important to note that’s not really related to Movie 14 itself but occurs right before it. According to the website I’m referencing, it is heavily recommended to watch Episodes 9, 10, and 11 of Magic Kaito 1412 BEFORE watching Episodes 627-628 of Detective Conan. It seems like those three episodes are designed as a lead-in to 627-628. I’m pretty sure you watched Magic Kaito 1412 in the past and then stopped, probably because of spoilers. It also mentions that after 628, you can then watch a number of episodes of MK 1412 whenever you want. If you want to continue that series, then I’ll post that list when you reach this point. Movie 15, after EP 650. Movie 16, after EP 691. As I mentioned before, you could delay your movie reactions if you want. The only issue is that there is a future movie that makes that a little difficult to do, especially if you fall too far behind. Movie 17, after EP 734 (Pre-story is Episode 694). (Edit, 10/25/22. I just finished watching Movie 20, pretty dope, but it reminded me of something that the website I referenced for this failed to include. Probably because it's not that important, but still worth mentioning.) Starting with this movie and continuing to the present, the anime episode that aired before the movie's release serves as a pre-story. For Movie 17, it is Episode 694. I completely forgot about this when I watched 18, 21, 22, 24, and 20 just now, so I'm not exactly sure how beneficial the pre-story episodes are. I'll check them out in the meantime. If they do turn out to be useful to watch beforehand, then what you could possibly do is combine your reaction to Episode 694 and the first 30-40 minutes of Movie 17 for a hypothetical Part One and the rest of the movie for Part Two and Part Three or something like that. Up to you. For what it's worth, don't look these up just yet. Movie 18, after EP 783 (Pre-story is Episode 735). This one is a unique case. From what I’ve gathered, there are multiple things that occur in the 500s that are really obvious in the manga but weren’t translated (or animated) that well in the anime (which is a recurring theme with the anime lol especially with the BO/FBI episodes. So many errors lmao). However, if you’re observant enough, you might catch one of them. These particular details continue all the way to this point, where you get a giant hint in the early 700s, and then everything is revealed in 783. So, regarding the detail this movie spoils, you might actually figure it out well beforehand depending on how observant you are. This is also where (still need to make sure, though) I would say you are good to watch the Episode One Special, despite comments saying you should wait until the mid-800s to watch it. I’ll post my counter to those comments when you reach this point. Movie 19, after EP 815 (Pre-story is Episode 774). Movie 20, after EP 867 (Pre-story is Episode 813). Movie 21, after EP 917, but BEFORE EP 927-928 (Pre-story is Episode 855). Alright, this movie changes things up a bit compared to the previous ones. If you end up falling behind or willingly delay your movie reactions at some point, this is the movie that throws a wrench into that plan. I have seen a handful of people consider this one as canon, and they’re not necessarily wrong. Really, I would say a few scenes of this movie could be considered canon, as weird as that may sound. So, there’s a character that is introduced in the 800s who has a connection with one of the main characters. The new character never meets the rest of the MCs, however, when 927 rolls around, the new character suddenly knows Rachel and another MC… despite the fact that we never see those introductions. One explanation the wiki offers, which obviously has the stance that not one second of the movies are canon, is that Rachel met this new character all the way back in Episode 5. Yeah, that’s honestly a massive stretch to me. If you don’t remember what that episode was about, it’s where Richard, Rachel, and Conan are taking a train to Kyoto (close to Osaka, where Heiji and Kazuha live) for a friend’s wedding. The trip is interrupted when Conan kicks a briefcase containing a bomb out of the train’s windows, causing it to explode in the sky. The episode ends with Conan and company continuing their trip to Kyoto. So, Rachel seemingly meets the new character off-screen. As for the other MC the new character somehow knows, the wiki just says that the MC was in Kyoto, where the new character lives, during a manga chapter that was just published this year (files 1088-1090). So, it presumably explains how they know each canonically, otherwise, it makes no sense, as the only way Rachel and the other MC would know the new character prior to 927 would be during the events of Movie 21 lol other than that, there are a few minor aspects of 927-928 that will not make sense if you don’t watch Movie 21 beforehand. Movie 22, after EP 942 (Pre-story is Episode 898). Movie 23, after EP 1005 (Pre-story is Episode 936). Movie 24, after EP 1046 (Pre-story is Episode 1002). Movie 25, after an anime episode that doesn’t exist yet, lol (Pre-story is Episode 1039). I imagine by the time you get to this point (God-willing, of course), these particular episodes, and many more after this, will exist. And that’s it lol like I said earlier, compare this list to the one you have. If you want, I can send this to you so that it’s easier to save and reference. Just let me know. Other than that, best of luck with Detective Conan, my dude.
