When you see the speedometer go over 180 km/h, that's nearly double the speed that the speed chime in the AE86 activates at in the first stage of initial D, and they were cruising at that speed waiting for the Z. It's also kind of similar to when Takumi had the new engine in the AE86 but didn't know how high to rev it. Nobody knows how fast the Z really is. The Devil Z is an unknown variable, you can compare it to the AE86 at the end of initial D, it's been tuned by a master, which is why it's so hard to control.
