After each viewing, I cannot for the life of me understand why I've watched it once back in the day and never again. At least it's like I'm watching it for the first time, since I remember basically nothing.

Same here. I remember liking it the first time, but not enough to buy the DVD. This time around, I'm enjoying it so much more. Of course, part of that is Alley's enthusiasm! It's kind of infectious. ;-)

Catching up on Dollhouse, so sorry for the late comment, but... The most unrealistic thing about this episode is that a college professor, even a published one, could afford the Dollhouse. That guy is making at most 300k per year, and that's using Harvard as the example. A lot for most of us, sure, but not even close to any other Dollhouse client we've ever seen.
