Hello everyone!

Classic 7 upload month schedule, but with an important note for the end of the month!

My future sister-in-law (bf's sister) that lives with us is about to give birth next month and it will be a bit of a chaotic time at my house. We are preparing for the last week of February for her delivery, but of course, we aren't sure the exact day/time.

If all goes how we think it will, this will be the upload schedule. But please understand, this may change if things with the baby change. Which is why I wanted to make sure this got up before next month pay cycle starts. Due to it being unpredictable, I completely understand if you want to skip the month and come back when we get more stable (of course, a baby will be in the house after this so how stable can it get? πŸ˜‚ but u get what i mean haha).

Hope everyone has a great February! <3

If you are engaged to your boyfriend, why not just call him your fiancee? I just think "fiancee's sister" seems easier to say than "future sister-in-law."

Wait, he doesn't know πŸ˜„ ? As soon as two people agree to get married, be it on a set date or just "someday", they are engaged.

Alley Box

lol well we have talked about it. he has said he wants to be married, i just want to wait a little longer bc having a wedding rn would be kinda crazy. but in every sense besides a proposal, we r pretty much engaged, i wear a promise ring and so does he πŸ˜‚

Sheriff Uchiha

Maybe it's a cultural thing. We don't have 'promises rings" over here. To me, you two are engaged, and those are engagement rings you are wearing. It sounds to me like he already proposed. 'engagement" has no legal status as marriage or in-laws do; so you are engaged the moment you agree to marry each other.

I feel like that's pretty common. There's the mutual understanding and conclusion that you'll eventually be engaged, and ultimately married; and then there's the moment of making the first (and subsequently second) step official. I'm not even sure it's necessarily a new convention; courting has often had the objective of getting engaged and then married. Some of those traditions have changed, where the lines between those steps has blurred; and others don't even care about the formality.

In March it will be interesting to see the bags under your eyes getting more and more pronounced with each upload. When the hallucinations start it will be time to visit the 'rents for a few nights.

Future sister in law.....did I miss that you were engaged? I think I remember a promise ring, but not an engagement. Eeek you're so young 😭 (I'm a sorta-anti-marriage person, so don't mind me lol)

Alley Box

not an engagement yet haha, but we are basically engaged, just not officially yet πŸ˜‚ but yes i feel the same, which is why we r gonna wait to have our wedding

SpikesEcho

Well a word of caution - I've been there....madly in love, whirlwind romance, the time of our lives, unlike what anyone else around us had, never fought, together for years, promise ring given, talks of the future/marrying/kids, interwoven lives. And it all ended in a firey mess, leaving only a ruined life (at the time) and complex PTSD. Ya gotta not trust in your perceived reality nor rely too hard on expectations you have that belyingly seem natural/a given, as hard as that is.

You're 'engaged' the moment you want to be. As you said, it has no legal status, therefore it's entirely cultural and therefore absolutely none of your business. It's up to individuals how they define their relationships. Plenty of people know/assume they'll one day marry, but don't consider themselves engaged until a proposal, or until they have a set date. It's common all over the world (I'm in the UK).

Most people I've known, including myself, planned to between themselves to get married but didn't call themselves "engaged/fiance" until the did the official proposal/announcement and made (at least tentative) plans for the date, venue, etc.
