2x09: "The Trials"

Next: Angel 2x10 on Sat 11/27. Hope everyone has a happy turkey day! :D or just a really nice week if you are outside the U.S!

OKAY WHAT THE FUCK IS DRU DOING BACK?!!?! What... and I seriously can not stress this enough.. THE FUCK DRUSILLA?!

Holy shit, this episode... is so insane. I did NOT see that ending coming at all and I am so excited to see more of Dru!!! AHHHHH I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE (ik she turned darla, pls forgive her, she is Dru kdjvfhfdkvh) GOODNESS, I am so excited to see where this all goes with the ending of Darla now being turned and Angel, after he already made the decision to help her live out her life as a human 😭 UGH, why is the buffyverse so SAD recently??

Anyways, hope you all enjoyy!! I have a major update for my thesis due next week (basically my full draft before I submit it to the board for consideration on the 30th!! 0-0 THEN I submit my presentation!) So with that all in mind, please always check my uploads on each post like above ^^ I will schedule and see when I have time to upload for you guys :) Trust me.. after this.. no one wants to watch the next couple episodes more than me!! haha

Drusilla to Darla in the episode Darla " I could be your mummy!" Says Dru to Darla just after calling her Grandmother. ( This is just before they bump into William). Keeping it in the family! So yeah, first time rewatching ep 7 Darla, I was so struck how Dru HAD A PREMONITION that she was gonna become Darla's 'mummy' in the future. This might have been said above, I haven't had the time to read all the posts. I hope you see this one with me being 6 days late. This is an amazing episode. I absolutely love it. I love the trial, I love how much Angel cares for Darla. Like they spent 150 years together. And they were obviously very into each other. But weren't capable of love, or at least self sacrificial love, only selfish desire. ( Which interestingly seems very different than how Spike was with Dru). But I think that now that with a soul Angel is capable of love and self sacrifice - he does actually love Darla deeply. Maybe he loved vamp Dalrla too once he had a soul, but couldn't 'let' himself or admit it to himself because she was souless and evil. But now that she is human he is able to allow himself to truely love her I think, IMO. It is not necessarily romantic, or some soul mate thing, But a deep love, and self sacrificial care for her, That is really strong because of the 150 years they spent together, because they have a deep bond having been sire & childe. I do wish that the writers had thought of this right in the beginning in Buffy - that it would have been much more tragic and devastating for Angel to dust her then. But is is understandable that they had not, so early on. The Drusilla reveal is EVERYTHING of course !! OMG, Darla accepts and comes to peace with dying, doesn't want to be turned anymore, and then Wolfram and hart bring Dru in. EPIC ! And Juliet is just fantastic in this final scene, as is David too - such devastation from him. Okay, I haven't had tome to actually watch all your talk at the end yet. had to just come say this. So there may be another comment later.

I'm so far behind on watching since going back to work. I love this episode Darla really is one of the best characters in the Bugfyverse, which is crazy when you know she died after just 7 episodes in Buffy. Add in the flashbacks and her return and her life is mind boggling. How we can all love to hate her and then have our sympathy for her crush us as she faces this life of practically no upside. Still, the craziest thing in this episode is Drucilla. She exacts her perfect revenge on both Angel and Darla. Darla sired, created the monster Angelus, then pointed him at Darla. Angelus tortured her, killed everyone in her life, and damned her despite her devoted nature. Here, Darla takes away and damns the one thing Angel cares for most. His saving Darla was in a sense, saving himself. He has a soul, but he is still a vampire. Darla is a human, she has been given the chance to remove the stain of her past. Drucillas revenge is even more intense as she turns Darla in the same fashion Darla turned Angel, by making her drink the blood off a scratch on her breast look at how Dru stares into Angel's eyes as she does it, like this is her perfect gift of revenge against him.
