Next: Buffy 5x07 on Sat 10/23

This is Wesley's episode <3 Giving him his time to shine! We got a new Angel in town 😏

But sheeeesh, for an episode, where it seems so fun while watching, it certainly has a lot of depth to look into with stuff like Angel and his past with Darla. Loved watching this one and getting to talk about it! :D

Hope yall enjoyyyy!

Is Darla the same from when she was a vampire. No. Angel lost his soul and his body was inhabited by a demon that took on his personality traits and has his memories. After being cursed, his soul was returned to his body and trapped the demon. He is two beings, the soul being in control, but both sharing memories. (This can be seen when Jenny was taken over by that demon out to kill Giles. Angel tricked it into coming into him, where his demon and the new one fought). I mean it's a show, well two shows, so there are going to be discrepancies. The show did lay the groundwork for this though. When Angel was cursed, both times, he was in a state of confusion. He couldn't remember recent events. It is implied that over time, the soul began to gain the demon's memories and then was tortured by them. Some episodes imply it doesn't take a really long time, but they don't also specify the time elapsed between certain events either. Basically, in my opinion, Darla has come back as a human who has all the memories of all her past life, both as a human, and as a vampire. Considering though, that she was something around 400 years old when she died, the vast majority of her life was as a vampire. So, it could be postulated that her soul is over burdened with processing her memories and is functionally numb. Kind of like victims of shock. Angel here seemed to be saying that the shock is going to wear off and she'll be looking a lot like him just after he was cursed soon. I love when they get into the lore stuff. How many episodes have dealt with what exactly constitutes a vampire, then also on Angel being with and without a soul and the transition. It's so interesting to see a similar situation happening to someone else. Of course, all this hinges on Angel being right. He seems to think he's right about her coming feelings of guilt, but she seemed pretty confident she's her usual self. I know by this point you've seen ahead, but I'm just going to leave these comments unspoiled as I watched along a favorite reactor when watching Buffy and Angel my first time. So looking forward to the next one.
