Something about that guy with the scar on his face screams NEW JOKER from the Su*cide Squad series of films. The choking-action with the name-tag lanyard with the main actress or whatever just also makes me think of people who pair the pigtail girl (Harley Quinn?) and Joker together. Like sado-masochist sh*t that appeals to AO3/Wattpad writers. I know I'm being hyperbolic, but this is from me looking up fics years ago and just being bombarded by those types of fics, including mafia ones with multiple Kpop groups, lol. It is a thing on the sites, up there with the omega/alpha/whatever wolf stuff, which started with EXO, I'd have to guess, in terms of the Kpop community. But really came from Twilight, since EXO's "Wolf"/"Growl" drama took from that and gave SHINee second-hand embarrassment as they lost their sh*t watching and laughing at EXO's Kai. It was a monumental moment in Kpop history.

A little tangent nobody asked for but Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel was Joker's psychologist and is literally the Harley Quinn because she fell in love with him and the Joker emotionally manipulated her. All she wanted was to be a part of something, be with someone, and unfortunately a lot of people don't know that... Like girlypop was pushed into a tub of chemicals that drove her to insanity by the person she was in love with, that's MESSED UP. Joker and Harley Quinn were a former couple, her originally just being comic relief to contrast Joker but they gave more depth to her in later comics. She's such a badass and I feel like reducing her to just a pig-tail girl who was "paired with Joker" is a little😂😭 I get that the Joker is more known but yeah. Especially since in the more recent stuff she has confronted him about what he did and has had a much better relationship with her girlfriend Poison Ivy But to add to your point, those mafia type stories aren't just limited to fics either! There are so many PUBLISHED novels with the same type of plot and the titles are always like "The Mafia Boss Loves Me" or something ISEHJSDRJFSLEDJFL THEY MAKE ME SO UNCOMFORTABLE OH AND THOSE KIDNAPPING PLOTS TOO??? Where a group kidnaps you or you get sold to them or something HDKSJFGKDBF

l love that drama, my other fav is the glory and you have reacted to that as well. after this one i would recommend celebrity or all of us are dead. (true beauty and squid game are also fun)

I don't follow superhero stuff (outside of very rare exceptions like anime, maybe)...so my comment is from an outsider's perspective. I'm aware enough about her to know she didn't used to have short shorts and a baseball bat nor two-colored twintails for her hair. And that she was paired with Ivy unofficially officially by the artist/s. In terms of superhero anime, I think maybe the blonde girl with the fang teeth from My Hero Academia/BNHA was inspired by Harley a little (as a non-fan of superhero Western media/an outsider). Superficially inspired. I would have to look into the personalities, probably. That being said, I have a soft spot for the fang teeth girl. In terms of the 'wanting to belong', fang teeth girl is very much that type because of childhood trauma and rejection, so...perhaps. I forgot to mention My Hero Academia takes place in a high school, so these characters are still maturing. Yes, yes, mafia stuff is hard to avoid in kpop fics. I get it. The aesthetics and the intrigue (I guess) and the whole...weird dynamics (probably also the excessive use of violence and drugs). I wonder how the rest of MY NAME will go. I need (nu-)Joker Man to be kicked.

Yeah, I really hope in the future maybe Harley Quinn's image will shift a bit so that those who don't follow those comics/movies etc. super closely will have a better idea of what she's actually about! I really need to check My Hero Acadamia, I've heard so much about it but never got around to watching it. And I'm on my fourth rewatch of this show... These next 4 episodes are about to go WILD

First episode of My Hero Academia will pull at your heartstrings. I think it's one of the best of the series (and what made me want to watch the series as a whole), but isn't that how it usually is for long-running series? Himiko Toga is the sharp-teeth girl's name (she's a villain), but the main character is Deku/Izuku Midoriya (male protagonist). Depending on which episodes you watch, I'd say it's almost like an anime version of a K-drama (the on-the-edge-of-your-seat-oh-my-God-what-just-happened ones, especially whenever the content gets darker/heavier/more serious and less comedic).
