The animated movie "Mulan" is one of my favorite Disney, if not my favorite. So I was excited to discover that re-adaptation, and I had some expectations. Like I said in the review, for 90% of it, I'm satisfied : the intro announced it would be one of the tales around the heroine, so it warns the viewers that they made some changes. And the majority are little changes, things which are not bothering me, even more because they respected the main scenes and messages.

But the 10% left… Visually, all is ok except for some fight scenes where the filming is ok but the post-production is badly done, the green background is obvious and the cut is too fast, so we're not enjoying the good choregraphies of these fights. For the history, I have a big issue with the witch character : you want to make a story more historical and realistic, but you're creating someone new, with powers ? And, ok it's a good idea to make the parallel with Mulan's situation, but the powers are disturbing totally the message of the movie : a woman who is fully herself like her, is not equal to men, she cheats, she has powers, she's dangerous for them… And at the end, her death can be good for representing those who died for women's rights, but you're also saying that you have to be like Mulan, yourself but with proving A LOT your value and having your family's acceptance, or… no, you can't be.
