I truly loved this episode mostly for the performance of this actor, I could really feel his fear but also his pain to not be trusted by others around him. I wondered about the subject they explored, the fact that this guy had mental issues and in a situation of stress, surely seeing that incident happening on the wing, he created an entire story around it. With that creature, gremlin, whatever you want.

And I also wondered a lot about it, about that representation of the "vilain" during that period of time. I found something about it : this episode was out in October 1963, same year as the novel Planet of Apes (out in January), so it was maybe influenced by it or just by the period of time. And, fun fact, the creator of the Twilight Zone was hired to work on the first movie some years after that.
