Hello !

I loved all of season 2, the spirits, Wan and the twins, everything, and I was defending it when people commented about the fact they hated it. But this final episode is a total mess and left me… mad. Writers, you cheated. You're giving us solutions, good ones, but without any explanation, coming from nowhere, and almost unlogical ones.

Jinora ? How she had Raava, how she can travel from the spirit to the physical world, etc, we'll never know. OK, let's accept it. Vaatu ? So the spirit was killed/released forever, so all of that speech about the balance of the world was for nothing ? OOOK, let's accept it. So Raava is again into the Avatar ? WHAT ABOUT THE PAST LIVES ? I swear, Korra just lost the connexion, they still exist somewhere, it has to.

Oh, and I almost vomited during Korra and Mako break up. The "We can't be together but I will love you forever"... THE MOST TOXIC RELATIONSHIP UNTIL THE END.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

Oh my god I agree with you so much! I really enjoyed season 2 for the most part but the last episode was just like "a wizard done did it" and I really hated that D:

Hello ! I still can't understand that final episode. I defended so much the season, like ok the spirits subject and exploring almost the "religious" aspect of this universe can't please people but it's so cool to do it, like ok our teenagers are annoying because they are angry all the time and losing themselves but come on that's real teenagers etc. But this end, this final episode... lost me. And I began a little the season 3 and I love it more already but I think I know why also : the mood of season 2 was sad since the beginning, ours characters were sad and/or mad, they were all separated, so our mood as viewers was also following that, but in the first episodes I saw of season 3, they are all together, they are saying a lot that they are strong as a group, as a family, and it's bringing really a warm and nice mood.

The Dragon Ball Z spirit battle is here! We traded the past avatars for this 😭. It’s controversial among the fans—some people think that the past avatars weren’t really useful and weren’t needed. I think that’s stupid, but to each their own, I guess. You’re right, let’s not even talk about Korra and Mako 🤦‍♀️. I have a headache, it’s not worth it. Time for season 3 🤩🤩🤩. I’m so excited! It’s my favorite season, and it’s so good! I won’t be complaining nearly as much, so that’s a relief to everyone reading the comments. First book in the Bible is called Genesis in English. I really want to see what it’s called in other languages now 🤓

Ah, and yes Nickelodeon is to blame for most of these problems 😬

Hello ! I didn't give up on the past lives, they have to be back, I'm really focused on the "lost connexion" words. It's not because you don't remember their phone numbers that they forgot yours and are not gonna call you at some point 🙈😂

Jinora didn't have Raava, she (somehow) showed the "Light in the Dark" Raava inside Vaatu, allowing Korra to get her out of him

laurareactions

How did she do it. How did she knew, about the Light in the Dark but also how to do it. How she came just right there, Korra was fast because of the tree but Jinora ? Why Jinora. Is it not a little simple and easy to do it, without any explanation, just because you were so blocked that you couldn't find time/explanations to do it like that or in another way. Clearly, this resolution is not satisfying me at all 🙈

While the Jinora stuff is out of nowhere and kind of inexplicable, I have no problem with the rest of the episode. I might be one of the few that thinks killing Raava and the spirits of the last Avatars isn't a problem. It sucks, but so did Aang dying and ending the cycle forever. It's just a danger the Avatar faces when doing the job. As for Vaatu, you can't kill him anymore than he could kill Raava. This sets up a future where the Avatar is going to become less pure. Like with Raava, Vaatu will be back and it will grow from inside Raava. There is the potential for an evil Avatar in the future as Raava and Vaatu will inhabit the Avatar. I like most of the choices they made but it was a messy episode with Jinora and the spirit kaiju battle.

I'm glad you were able to enjoy as much of Season 2 as you did! Though people tend to pick apart many aspects throughout the season, I do think a lot of people's hatred of it has to do with the ending, especially with seemingly ending the connection to the past lives. Where I think fans step over the line though, is when they BLAME Korra for it, when it was completely out of her control. And this is where a lot of people who hate Korra (both the show and person) start from. (I know that you definitely weren't blaming Korra - just voicing my frustration at those who do). I thought your theory that Raava would need to be released from Korra to restore balance was very interesting, but to me at least, it seems clear that if that WERE to happen, it would give the same result. The connection to the past lives would be lost (and also probably the Avatar cycle!?). I'm just curious if the connection were severed in this way (maybe even the Avatar cycle could still be maintained somehow) would it be more palatable? I definitely agree about the complaints of major "deus ex machina" with Jinora's ability to reveal the light within Vaatu. At best, it makes the ending seem rushed and unfinished, at worst its just bad storytelling. I don't think it's the only time they've done something similar though. The whole "Lion Turtle suddently appearing and giving Aang the power to 'energy bend'" conclusion of AtLA has some elements of this as well, though I think its much more accepting by fans (and I don't disagree that its not as bad). It makes me wonder, if they inserted a scene of a Lion Turtle teaching Jinora, would that make it better? 😛

Yes, I saw that in the ytb comments yesterday, people divided between blaming Korra or not for losing the connection with the past lives. I chose to not get involved into the debate in ytb because clearly, but I agree with you, for me Korra is not responsible at all. For Raava, yes, her being out on her own would have meant no Avatar at all in fact, like the world doesn't need to be protected anymore, the balance is fully restored, the Avatar doesn't need to exist anymore, but the past lives would continue to exist with Raava, see?,
