However, even as the necromancers descended to the fourth floor another group entered Unbound’s Dungeon. It was a group of knights, not from the church nor Undead, but normal human knights that surrounded three people.
Two of the three people had robes and a pointed hat, one was bright red and the other featured black and white swirls in a strange pattern. The third member of the group wore fine clothing of silks and had a finely crafted sword that had its hilt encrusted with jewels.
The man seemed unused to a difficult situation, his manner screaming that he was only accustomed to finery around him. It was like he had never had to struggle for anything and that caused him to hold his head high as he practically sneered at his surroundings.
The mage dressed in red seemed to dislike his presence, looking at his back with disgust when his back was facing her. Unbound could actually feel as any mana that she breathed out was tinted to become of a Fire affinity. She was like a living Fire affinity shaped like a person to his Dungeon senses. He was very cautious because he felt he would have to use powerful water or earth elementals to stop her burning down the Dungeon.
There were fifteen people in total, the three-plus twelve knights that were defending the smaller group. The arrogant man was practically strolling through the first floor, confident in the knight’s abilities to protect him, he was treating it like a casual walk around his own house. Not like walking through the halls belonging to an immortal being designed to kill creatures in large numbers.
Even as the new set of invaders were making quick progress through the first floor the necromancers were being torn to pieces. Unbound had slammed down a door of the strongest material had been able to currently make and stopped the necromancers retreating away from the fourth floor and as they hit each trap, he activated the Sigils of Purge Undead.
How the Purge Undead sigil worked was by targeting the fact that Undead were not alive and unable to completely control their mana and then forcing the Undead’s mana to move in a different path, obliterating the physical structure of the Undead. More powerful Undead could resist the forced mana change and it would then require stronger sigils to deal with that type of Undead.
They were extremely difficult to craft for anyone who wasn’t a Dungeon and the fact that the Priest had ever given it to him was a huge boon. They weren’t as hard to craft as Affinity sigils, but an Enchanter was an extremely revered position and anyone with the talent was immediately taken in by the nearest member of nobility or royalty.
It was why both Life and Holy affinity were so useful in destroying the Undead because whilst the sigils were more effective they were extremely hard to come by and required far too much mana to kill one of the more powerful Undead, like a Skeletal Lord.
The fourth floor was designed to take out a large number of Undead and it was succeeding, broken to pieces by more powerful elementals, falling into traps and blasted with massive Purge Undead sigils.
All but two of the necromancers had died to spikes, falling rocks, elementals, or the uncontrolled Undead because one of their fellows had died and lost control of them. One of the necromancers had walked straight into the near-invisible hooks with enough force to sink them into his brain, as he died the Undead he controlled had gone for the usual activity of attack everything around them and had killed another necromancer.
Two more of the necromancers had died until the last two of the necromancers had tried to retreat with eight damaged skeletons only to be caught by the door Unbound had placed and then falling victim to a large rockfall placed by the door.
The trap had put an end to the latest invasion from necromantic forces and Unbound knew he would have to grow far stronger to defeat any assaults more powerful than the last. He suspected that the necromancers had a way to communicate with those who were outside of the Dungeon, possibly through the Affinity sigils, and were transmitting how to defeat his current Dungeon layout.
Unbound was close to gaining a new floor, the sheer number of Undead killed in the Dungeon having brought up his level. He suspected if he killed the other party invading his Dungeon he would then be able to level again and create another floor.
As the current invaders were not Undead, they would give him shop points when he killed them and that would get him newer defenders. He was currently trying to get a defender who was specifically designed to take down Undead that attacked.
The current constant battling that he had going on in the fighting chambers had only changed some of the defenders slightly. The deer had started forming an armor that had a layer of bumps specifically to stop the sword-wielding skeletons from being able to land a blow, boars had developed a type of acidic mucus layer on their tusks so that they could kill the slimes.
Other adaptions were not as pronounced and Unbound could only hope for them to go faster so he had more defenders, he increased the mana flow into the rooms again; it was close to the maximum amount of mana a creature could take before it started to develop any poisoning due to its presence.
Even as he checked this the group of people walked into the first-floor boss room and before the whip-like limbs could land even a single blow upon the party the red-robed mage girl thrust her hand out and let loose a humongous gout of flame that incinerated the spider without giving it time to even scream.
If Unbound had still been human, he likely would have gulped at the fearsome sight.
