Earlier this year I had two testshoots at the same time. On one hand it was my first shoot with Brigi from Budapest which I really enjoyed. She's a super nice person and has an amazing body 😍

On the other hand it was my first shoot with the Canon R5. Concerning this I'm only partially satisfied. Let me start with the good thing. The handling of the camera. works much better than I was used from other mirrorless cameras so far. Especially the EVF is something you can really work with: Fast and natural. It really shows you the image like it appears later on the display. That's what I was missing so often, especially at Sony mirrorless cams.

But I was really struggling with the output. I have no idea why, but Lightroom is not supporting "Camera matching profiles" for the R5 and R6 yet. This really sucks, because no matter if I shoot with Canon, Nikon or Fuji, I always use camera matching profiles (except for B/W) to start my workflow. The Adobe profiles are rather useless to me.

Well, I did some research and found profiles from a third party called "Color Fidelity". They try to match the original Canon pictures styles as well and they do a pretty good job. Much better than Adope profiles. But they are not as good as the "Camera matching" profiles from Adobe.

I did some more tests recently, comparing the 5DIII and R5 using "Color Fidelity" for the R5 and "Camera Matching" for the 5DIII. And what can I say. I was much more satisfied with the 5DIII results. They output feels more natural/organic and more "punchy" in the same time.

Well, I hope Adobe will solve this issue soon, because ohterwise it's really fun working with this cam. Especially the RF28-70 f2 lens (which I still have to get used to), offers new options of shooting :)

But now, enjoy the pictures of beautiful Brigi :)

I have the same issue (I have also fuji GFX so you can imagine my thoughts on the R5 colors in LR). If using Canon DPP , the colors look very good... in C1 they are also ok. There are some more 3rd party presets for LR , but nothing "perfect" yet.

Well, Canon DPP is not really an option ;) - But I found these profiles lately and until now they are the best for Lightroom: https://courses.willgoodlet.com/canon-r5-camera-matching-profiles-new
