This picture was taken in Thailand where the sun is high all the time. When it comes to sunset it drops down extremely fast so you don't have much chance to create moody sunset pictures.

I had to change my style a bit, but still I love to shoot at bright beaches as the sand and the ocean are really cool reflectors where you can shoot all day.

The original shot was much wider, but I cropped it to make Miri fill out the frame better. Also I changed the background as the original one was drawing to much attention due to the bright surface of the wave.

The rest is retouched by my main workflow which you know already from my video quick tips: Dodge & burn and a bit of frequency separation, changing tones/skintones and care about the right level of contrast.

Wow! ISO 32! Do you ever use ND filters instead?

No I don't Peter. Luckily 1/8000s and low ISO is mostly enough, even on bright days. Newer Nikons have native ISO of 64 which you can extend to 32.
