For the new "Dexit" video I have kind of a ton of stuff, because basically it started as like 3 different videos.

First I was originally going to make a video about just Magic Knight Rayearth for the Sega Saturn, the Working Designs game featured in this video. I have had a fascination with that game for most of my life ever since hearing it existed in the Magic Knight Rayearth manga. I finally got my own copy of it at the end of 2020 and fell down a rabbit hole because it turns out the company that made the game was way more interesting than even the game itself. I did  a ton of research for that video, ended up writing 1/3rd of it, and then kind of halted because I wasn't sure how to transition into part 2 and then also I started my new job in 2021 and it kind of got put on the back burner. Thankfully a lot of that research ended up coming in handy for this video!

Then in terms of the actual Dexit video, it started life as a Pokemon Colosseum review. I really struggled with this one because every time I shared a Colosseum hot take on Twitter, the response was mostly negative (I mean it IS Twitter) so I was really worried about combining the Gen 3 Dexit stuff with all these potentially unpopular Colosseum opinions. It turns out most of the people who dislike Colosseum don't really care about it all that much, meanwhile a lot of the people who are still interested in Colosseum are heavily invested in it and typically very positive on it. So since I wanted to actually give this Dexit idea a fighting chance and not kill it by association, I decided to make it its own video.

The first draft of the "Dexit as its own video" idea was similar to the version that ended up becoming the video, but after asking a few people to proofread it, I figured it was probably not quite where I needed it to be. I'm obviously still very upset about this part of Gen 3 and so I didn't really want to upload a second video where I put this thing out there and have people go like "I don't get why its a problem?" which was mostly the response to the FireRed LeafGreen review from the general public, as well as the response from my proofreaders to this version of the script.

The main difference between that version of the script and the final draft is that it didn't include basically any of the history about rentals and Working Designs in it. I needed to lay out the foundation, to get people on the same page with the point of view I was seeing it from, so I needed to show them all this research that I had in my pocket from the MKR stuff and really get them to see the situation from a historical POV. I also finally tied it to the 2019 Dexit to frame it in a more relevant context to make it more interesting to people other than like the 6 people currently playing Gen 3 on retail as opposed to emulator. So that was when it all kind of clicked together into the version of the video you all saw. Still by no means perfect, but probably the best my argument about this is ever gonna get.

Now I can make that Colosseum/XD review and put all my hot takes in it and not have to worry that it will impact the reception of the Gen 3 trading topic as a whole. It may also help everyone understand the POV I was coming into the game with.

My question for you is, what type of Behind the Scenes content would you like to see? I have basically like 4 essays worth of drafts of various things, plus notes from proofreaders, but idk what out of all that stuff is actually interesting. I also have an early version of the video that Lewtwo (the editor) shared with me to show me what footage was going to get used where. So yeah, comment below if anything sounds interesting and I'll post it!

Hmmm the backlash for Colosseum is understandable considering Twitter. It is a personal thing for me, I kinda wanted to know all the details of everything wrong with Colosseum. Mostly to see if I could find theoretical improvements in a Romhack story wise.

Objectively your tales are much better on the subject of Pokémon, video games in general, and even the sales practices (7 games for all 386 = profit), which no one else talks about. I’m interested to hear the behind the scenes.
