I'm Alive! And content is coming! (Patreon)

I can't believe I haven't posted since March. I got hired by that place and I knew that it would take me a while to find a balance that would allow me to work full time and still create content, but maybe it took me a little longer than I thought it would. (Gonna ramble for a bit, TL;DR at the bottom, new Pokemon content coming!)

The good news is, I have been making progress on that, and it came about in kind of an unexpected way. At the end of last year, I got hired, and then I got married. It was a lot of change all at once, and I found myself drawn back to something that I haven't thought much about in ten years. I didn't talk a lot about this on my Pokemon and gaming social medias because I figured there wouldn't be much crossover interest, but I've been collecting Sailor Moon dolls since childhood, and all of a sudden they were on my mind again. Psychologically, things like toys help us through periods of transition, help us keep a stable sense of self in times that might not feel so stable, so it makes sense.

So on my second channel (found here: https://www.youtube.com/user/HirokaTamashii ) I started uploading these videos about restoring these old dolls, really just for myself, not really expecting anyone to watch them. I didn't post about them here because they were, in my mind, strictly not business, just for fun, hobbyposting. So of course I didn't expect them to take off.

And of course, take off they did. One of them amassed more views in a month than some of my essays get in a year. Unbeknownst to me, there was demand for Sailor Moon doll content. Now I don't expect anyone here to be into that, since there isn't a ton of overlap between the audiences of the two channels I'm now running, but some of you have been very kind and supportive anyway, and for that I am extremely grateful. That is my favorite thing about the internet, no matter what weird niche thing you are into, there are people who will cheer you on and celebrate it with you.

For a while I've been working on these doll videos on my weekends and after work because they're not the same kind of concentrated effort working on an essay takes. It's easier to find the energy for them because they're restorative in nature. It is restful, peaceful content making in it's own way. So if you were sitting here all this time wishing I would put up ANYTHING, you might be happy to know theres a backlog of about 5 videos waiting for you now on the 2nd channel. And more on the way.

But it has also helped me find a work flow that has allowed me to be creative and maintain myself for my day job all at the same time. I've been working on scripts on my lunch breaks because doing something creative in the middle of the day helps recharge me and get me through til clock out. I've hired Lewtwo, my new pal and fellow Pokemon shitposter, to edit the video I was working on since the end of last year. And as of this weekend, I have recorded my script and the video is now in his hands, being assembled, after all this time. I don't have an estimated date for upload yet because it is my first time working with him and I'm unsure about the turnaround time, but it is going to happen now 100%. And I think the time away, the time that I spent working on my dolls and helping myself through a difficult period of change, has helped me gain a new perspective that I hope shines through in the content.

The fall is always the time of year when my brain just has to MAKE things, so I guess it's fitting that I can finally announce new content now that it's September. I'll be back with an update once I have a better idea of when that video will be released! Happy to be back!
