really enjoyed that! i'm an anime-only but one cool thing about someone having read the manga is you get to focus more on the how and the aesthetics. i freaking loved the zeke revival scene, the music was so fucking haunting. i'm a huge fan of all of the seasons' scores and this sounds like a brand new track. it definitely made this moment seem really alien and otherworldly, coupled with zeke's dumbfounded expressions and dialogue. i also freaking loved the close-up shots of the jaw and armored titans' faces as they were immobile, impaled on the spears. just the pause on their mangled faces was a really memorable touch. i feel like the anime is so good at close-ups during tense moments, including the scene between armin, jean, connie, and mikasa at the end. looking forward to listening to more of your thoughts on the future episodes! i enjoyed your youtube videos on the anime and final fantasy vii remake as well.

It's so great to see your reactions to AoT and hear your thoughts about every episode in this format. Who would have thought you'd be doing something like this just a few months ago? Love to see it! You talking about how the idea of/like Helos is what perpetuates this neverending conflict reminded me of Kiritsugu's lines from Fate/Zero in ep 16 about how "in every era, larger-than-life heroes have existed whose deeds and tales of honor and glory have blinded people of the inherent evil of bloodshed and war". Obviously, context is different and I'm not saying it was exactly the same but I thought it was a cool parallel. Never a bad thing when two of my favorites share ideas.

Definitely a cool parallel, I agree! AoT is my abstract with that sort of concept whilst F/Z is more direct (with this specific idea of the “glorious hero,” not the lamentation of war in general) but nonetheless it’s a definitely core similarity!

Awesome, I’m really glad you enjoyed it! Likewise with the videos too. I’m currently doing a weekly FF7R playthrough on Twitch in case you’re ever interested in that as well, the vods for it go on the second channel.
