Okay, so I probably have to explain this one.

Mike Lu and Og was a show I was very fond of growing up. It was on Cartoon Network and was mainly two episodes together each lasting a little over ten minutes.

The story is about an American girl from Manhattan going on an exchange program to the Island called Albonquetine Island.

I think it technically is a territory under the British Empire as the islanders are descendants of the shipwreck of the british ship Betty Anne.

Mike Lu and Og holds a special place in my heart. Not because the story was good, nor because the animation was spectacular because… neither was really anything special.
But Mike Lu and Og seemed to be absolutely brilliant in it’s mellow, calm, low key and really quite wonderful tone of nothingness.

When I came home from a day of school, watching a few of those episodes really helped me calm down. The gentle tone, the subtle and nice tropical themed music, the funny characters… all was a great way to go back to zero.

Frankly, a lot of shows today, in fact most, are trying to stuff in so much symbolism and signaling in all shows that they seem to forget that kids all over gets stressed as well, and sometimes… 20 minutes of just simply nothing but calming scenes can go a long way.

Today I am unsure if there any shows that goes the same way as Mike Lu and Og did - I don’t watch out for it either, but this show was one I remembered simply because - it was perfect for a boy who often came home crying after a really shitty day at school and just needed to go to an tropical island and hang with 3 good friends.

The show today… I found it on YouTube just a few days ago, and it has been really nice and nostalgic to see the friends again. I remember the adventures, all of them. 😊

I hope you like this adult reflection of mine.

Yours truly

I can relate when ever i came home from a long productive day i would watch the first three movies of Ice Age. I didn't have a TV so i didn't watch that many shows. But i liked the idea of some three guys to become from friends to a family. And the way it just evoved with more family members was just perfect. Btw thanks for sharing your art and past. ♥️☺️
