Greetings All!

I wanted something that had root in a legend, sometimes known as ghost coins. These were rumored to be placed in the mouth of the dead, and others over the eyes.

Rather than a simple Death Ward, which it is 100% based, it grew to cover some alternate uses. Including Revivify, with a small boon of life to those who are out of time, and an even rarer use of being able to ward off the Avatar of Death.

That’s pretty much as interesting and specific as I could make a coin of the dead, I hope you enjoy! Let me know if you have any thoughts or changes.

Updates: Shadow Clean Up & Darkened Skull.

Truly, as always and ever sincerely, Thank You.

Description:

This small cold metal coin bears the semblance of a skull on both sides. It never warms, even when placed in flames. Rumors and myths abound from these coins, as some traditions have even taken root from tales of their use. One thing always remains constant, these coins can never be bought with mortal currency They are only found or granted.

Tabs:

  • This largely cold iron coin weighs 10 lbs. If 2 coins are carried together they weigh 100 lbs.
  • If used in any of the following ways, it will turn to black ash and vanish.
  • While on a user’s person, if the creature in possession of this coin makes a death saving throw, they will instantly regain 1 Hit Point.
  • If the user is targeted by a spell that would kill them instantaneously without dealing damage, that effect is negated against the user.
  • If placed in the mouth of a creature that has died within the last 24 Hours, that creature returns to life with 1 Hit Point. This does not restore any missing body parts, and if the creature has died of old age, it grants the 24 Hours more of life.
  • This coin can be given to the Avatar of Death to banish it.
