Greetings All!

This is something I’ve been wanting to try for a while now, and if you could not tell this is the first of a pair. While the counterpart is planned for the future, it is still a few weeks out from here. Focusing on the Ice Titan for now, but you can imagine an opposing image for now.

This is an item that has a lot of possibilities, especially in story hooks. From an ancient castle that has mysteriously frozen over, a mysterious cold snap leading to a frozen harbor, or a quest to stem a heatwave through a lost relic . It has a lot of possibilities, and is worthy of Legendary Status.

Can’t wait to keep diving into the common and legendary items, the whiplash between the two is inspiring some fun oddities for sure.

Description:

This is a totem carved from primordial permafrost and engraved with carvings of the old magics. Standing at almost two feet tall, it is carved to bear the resemblance of an primordial titan or elemental that once roamed the frozen waste. It is said to be carved from a piece of the titan severed in its final battle within this realm. It now is one of the last connections to their power, as even its name has vanished to time.

Tabs:

  • IceTitan’s Blessing- The user gains Immunity to Cold damage as long as this item remains on their person.
  • Ice Walk - The user can move across and climb icy surfaces without needing to make an ability check. Additionally, difficult terrain composed of ice or snow doesn’t cost an extra movement.
  • This totem holds 6 Charges and regains all expended charges daily at dusk. The charges can be expended in the following ways.
  • Creeping Cold: 1 Charge, as a Bonus Action. The user is able to increase the output of spells dealing cold damage by 2d8.
  • Meld into Ice: 1 Charge, as an Action. The user is able to cast the Meld Into Stone spell, but with ice surfaces.
  • Glacial Reign: 2 Charges, as an Action.The user is able to call forth the Ice Storm spell.
  • Concentrated Blizzard: 2 Charges, as an Action. The user is able to call forth the Cone of Cold spell.
  • Trapped in Ice: 3 Charges, as a Reaction to taking Melee Damage. The user can call forth primordial ice, slowing the blow and reducing all damage from the attack by half. The attack must make a DC:17 Constitution Saving throw or be covered in ice, Paralyzing them until the start of their next turn.

Instant & Regional Effects:

  • Handling: If touched without attunement or magical equipment. It deals 1d4 Cold damage a round to the creature, as the flesh freezes from their hands.
  • Regional Effect: This totem affects the weather, akin to the Control WeatherSpell. Each day the GM rolls a 1d4. On a 1, the weather within 5 Miles increases the temperature by 1 Stage in accordance to the spell. This will continue until the climate within the radius becomes Arctic Cold. If the totem is removed from the area, it will return to normal over 1d10 Days.
  • Balance: The Regional Effect can be stabilized and its Artic Cold offset, if within the same 5 mile radius as its counterpart Totem of the Fire Titan. Causing balanced weather and climate for a 10 mile radius all year long.
