Greetings All!

This is the 2nd of 3 items planned for the Blackwater DND team. This being a fave, and my first pair of magical pants! Perfect for the beginning of the spooky season. I am not sure that I’ve had this much fun drawing clothing in years, so let’s see if it awakens something.

I really enjoyed the mechanics for these, namely the empowered effect coming at the necromancer empowerment as a whole different level. I had something similar for the Creature Gear pdf coming to backers as a stretch reward, so it was a natural give and take. I really hope you enjoy!

Check out their Twitch & Youtube

As always, I hope you enjoy and encourage thoughts/comments.

Updates: Small updates to the lineart and metal coloring.

I hope you enjoy this one! Truly, as always and ever sincerely, Thank You.

Description:

These pants seem like a fun pair of skeleton themed slacks, but they are in fact a powerful phylactery of the Lich King Vel Soom, a servant of dark forces. Made from the hide of a Nalfeshnee and they are extremely comfortable, stylish and they might try and steal your soul!

Tabs:

  • The pants hold 2 Charges, and regain 1 expended charge daily at dawn.
  • Spooky Radiance: Dazzling 1 charge, as an action. The user is able to cause the garment to display a shifting pattern of dazzling hues. The pants spread bright light in a 30ft radius and dim light for an additional 30ft. Any creature that can see the user has disadvantage on attack rolls against them. In addition, any creature of the user’s choosing within the area of bright light that can see the user must succeed a DC:15 Wisdom saving throw or suffer disadvantage on all attack rolls. All of these effects last until the end of the user’s next turn.

Empowered.

The pants begin to glow with a faint yellow energy that seems to weave into the fabric, the skulls twisting and becoming more life-like, occasionally you swear you see one move on its own.

This empowerment can come from a wide range of scenarios, from a willing sacrifice or a ritual. Whenever a necromantic artifact or item is destroyed near the pants, they may feast on the residual energy. So empowerment can often come as a surprise to the wearer, the GM decides when this is achieved.

  • The pants DC increased to 16, and sheds bright light for an additional 15ft becoming 45ft Total.
  • If the user casts the Animate Dead spell, they roll a 1d8 on a 8 the skeleton becomes empowered. Granting it an additional +2 to Armor Class and +4 to Attack Rolls.
  • The pants now regain 2 expended charges daily at dawn.
