Greetings All!

I have always loved the vibe of the Nalfeshnee in all editions, so this is a long awaited dive in.

The prompt for Swordtember (I hop in as able) was Rend, and so I ran with it. Producing a legendary blade that is inspired by the Nalf & Sun Blade, creating something all together cursed. I really enjoyed pouring ideas into this one, as with all multi form items this took a bit longer.

Tying 2 of the Nalf’s abilities to the blade was an easy call. The bigger call outs would be the Finesse and Sword Type selection, I really hope you enjoy that spicy addition. No matter the form it is still tied to the 2d8 instead of constantly die tracking. Definitely a fun take for you to try out!

Description:

This hilt seems to be composed of tough leather and tusk, with a slick coating of black ichor in several areas. Almost organic in nature, the underside of the hilt holds material resembling flesh sacks. Lower still, there appears to be chunks of fur poking out. The pommel itself seems composed of a large milky gray eye shifting and seeking, lost in the dark.

While grasped, the user can use a Bonus Action to summon an oily black energy, springing a blade into existence or making it disappear. The user chooses what type of sword is summoned.

While the blade exists, this magical sword has the finesse property. If proficient with shortswords, longswords, or greatswords, the user is proficient with the Tormented Blade.

The user gains +3 to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon, which deals 2d8 Necrotic damage instead of slashing damage. When hitting a celestial with it, that target takes an extra 1d8 Necrotic damage.

As an action, the hilt magically emits scintillating, multicolored light. Each creature within 15ft of the user that can see the light must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. Once used, this feature cannot be used again until the next Dusk.

As an action, the user can teleport along with any equipment it is wearing or carrying up to 120 ft to an unoccupied spot it can see. Once used, this feature cannot be used again until the next Dusk.

Worb’delm the Cursed

The Tormented Render is a sentient Chaotic Evil weapon, with hearing out to 60ft. The weapon communicates telepathically with any creature within 120ft and can speak and understand abyssal. It can refuse to grant its power to a user based on its own choices, but it has become quite mad due to endless darkness and the lack of form.

Blinded for time beyond measure, this named Nalfeshnee was twisted and shaped into a mockery of a weapon for a dark champion. Denied death and rebirth, it has accepted its fate and it longs only to find a champion of darkness worthy of wielding it. Or simply something to give it purpose.
