The stairs at the back of the chapel lead down into the basement level. Once, locals considered this place a refuge from hurricanes or swirling storms that ripped across the bayou. But no longer. Locals today or daringly unwise children might descend the stairs, a few perhaps brave enough to dash forward and place a toe in the stagnant floodwater. Boastful drinkers back in town might brag of taking a swim in its depths, whether true or not, while others refuse to speak of the place at all.

Adventurers that explore too far and ignore caution from the elders might just find out what evil has taken residence here in decades past...
