Ok guys, real talk now. Picarto now allows you to make private streams, so the idea of having private streams instead of google hangouts is possible now.
we started using google hangouts because it was the only way to have private videoconferences (skype was another idea but was more or less the same). Google hangouts is more engaging than a stream, because all participants can... "participate" more than just a text chat xD. But google hangouts came with it's limitations too, 10 people only, bad audio and video quality, and times when it gets jank and whatnot.
On the other hand, picarto streams would allow infinite amounts of people, let me record with a much better audio and video quality, and it would allow me to play my own music for everybody to hear :O just like every regular stream. The downside would be that the participants would lose that extra "engagingness" of having their own cams, and all the fun stuff we've done with it in the past. Another thing is that doing the private streams wouldn't be free for me. It would only be 10 bucks/month so it's nothing of a concern (thanks to your patronage of course!)
Another factor that has always troubled me is the low attendance to the google hangouts we've done. At first we had trouble getting everyone in, but after a while, less and less people ended coming up. of 144 people, only 6-8 always come to the hangouts. Would streaming be more attractive for you guys to come and enjoy the art? chat for a while? or maybe just leave it in the background while you mind your own business? Or do you still prefer the google hangouts?
My objective with doing this "videoconferences" or streams or hangouts or whatever, is to give you guys an exclusive event that only you can enjoy. And the more patrons do it, the better!
I'm going to make a "poll" in the comments. Please vote up stream, or google hangout, whichever you prefer. You can also leave your opinion too! I want to know what you guys think.
