How fitting this is being released today when it is very much Christmas based (this movie was released in theatres April😂) This one was a pleasant surprise as I didn’t know much about the Shazam character aside from the Shazam family and his arch nemesis Black Adam. I felt like this had a good balance between a comedic and dark tone (the reveal that Billy’s mother abandoned him was brutal 🥲) My favorite scene however was the birth of the Shazam family (I was freaking out in the cinemas 😂). Overall, this is now one of my favorite DCEU films. I went back and read some of his comics after watching this movie. Excited to see what they do with the sequel (the caterpillar they set up at the end is actually a super villain, Mister Mind 🐛 lol)

Merry Christmas 🎄 (And Happy Holidays) everyone! 😁

Inhuman Paradox

So I like this film. It was the first DCEU comedy to really work for me. Studio Squad and Josstice League didn't for obvious reasons. And Aquaman was great when it WASN'T trying to be funny for me. The humor itself was pretty weak. That said, this film is also pretty safe IMO. Like Birds of Prey and TSS both have a lot of the same Deadpool-inspired self-aware humor, but they also bring better cinematography, music, action, and in TSS' case, even some stronger emotions to the table. And I know some will decry me saying BoP is better than Shazam or Aquaman, that's just how I feel. I also hate the normal version of Superman II (Donner Cut all the way baybee) and I think Batman Returns and Forever are better than Batman 89, so y'know, I'm also pretty insane and you shouldn't take my weird opinions as fact. What I will really commend here is Mark Strong's performance as Sivana. Strong was notoriously one of the few good parts of Green Lantern, so to see him doing just as good in an actually decent movie is nice. One of my favorite DCEU villain performances. EDIT: "Couldn't afford Cavill" actually that's a pretty odd story. So Cavill was going to show up, and (Like any actor would) wanted it to count as a Superman appearance for his contract, which would've ended that contract and led to a new negotiation (Cavill wanted to keep being the character, he wasn't going to just leave after the contract). WB, who wanted Cavill to still have another movie on the current contract, refused. So effectively their logic was "We want you to have more movies on your contract after this, so we aren't going to... let you contract yourself for more movies after this". And if that sounds really confusing, it is. Welcome to Warner Bros. NOTHING makes sense and every new regime somehow makes the exact same mistakes.

Miss Timi Fantastico

Longtime fan of Zachary Levi, but I still went into this film with low expectations. I ended up really liking it! Good performances by the child actors, a wholesome family story, and Mark Strong kills it.

I thought this was pretty good, dragged out with the final act but overall was pretty entertaining and had a pretty nice vibe about it in general. Did funny well I thought which seems rare for superhero movies recently. Had no clue about any of the characters in the slightest so was fun seeing them get powers and the DC references were pretty good to. Actually felt like a xmas superhero movie too, had that family tone to it. Yeh, decent.

Rejon

One of the better DC movies for the most part...not from a technical perspective, and the story is nothing special...but its fun and I like the characters for the most part, high praise with some of the turkeys its siblings with

Edward Martin

Heinrich von Germansomething. I don't know why that line hit me more than any other.

Christopher Carpenter

So the caterpillar is an OG character from the original Captain Marvel comics in the 1940s. His name is Mr. Mind and he's basically the most intellegent creature in the universe.

please watch Peacemaker if you havent seen it best DCEU content

I never saw this movie because for some reason, it just didn't appeal to me. I'm surprised I ended up kind of liking it. If you're a fan of Mark Strong, I'd recommend Miss Sloane (2016, Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong, Gugu Mbatha-Raw). It's a little different from your usual choices, but it's a really good film. Chastain is amazing in it (and insanely hot). Also, I know it's past Christmas now, but try to react to Home Alone 2. It's as entertaining as the first one and among my childhood favorites. ❤️
