SO GOOOD!! Acting, soundtrack and fight scenes were crazy and so much more. Possibly the best one so far.

What did you think?

General rule of thumb is, for geek gods they typically possess the power of their parents (or some version of their parents power) plus their own. Which is why both Ares and Diana have the abilities of Zeus to a certain degree since they're both his children. 🤙

Loved this film and so glad WW got such good origin story treatment. I am generally not a DC universe guy, but Wonder Woman was/is my favorite super hero character of any of them. Spiderman is a close second, but when we played super heroes as kids, I was always WW. I grew up watching Linda Carter play her on TV and watching the Super Friends cartoon on Saturday mornings, so maybe it's all nostalgia, but she's the best.

One of my absolute favorite DC films. Apparently for many others as well, which is why it does so well in DC box office rankings, beaten only by Dark Knight and its sequel, I believe. Slightly flawed and has a few cheesy moments, but overall it's such a great film. The directing, fight choreography, story flow, Diana's background, set design, and soundtrack were all great. The bit in the soundtrack that sounds like a siren seems meant to reflect Diana/Wonder Woman: feminine and also aggressive/powerful. Including Diana's background in the film was a great way to explain that she is both highly intelligent and well read, while also being very naïve from her lack of worldly exposure. Hands down, Diana and Steve are the best couple in any superhero movie as of late. Effortless chemistry. The second one is nowhere near as good as this. I'm not sure what they did so differently, but it just doesn't come together like this one. It's up to you whether or not you react to it. It's skippable, in my opinion.

Another fun fact I forgot to mention. The women on Themyscira are played by real life hench women from different athletic backgrounds, ranging from rowing to boxing and in between. Even Gal herself trained for months to make her body look more believable in this role.

Inhuman Paradox

What happened was of the five people who crafted this first movie's story (Jason Fuchs, Zack Snyder, Geoff Johns, Patty Jenkins, and Allan Heinberg), only two returned for WW84 (Geoff Johns and Patty Jenkins). Allan Heinberg, who crafted most of this movie's final screenplay and gave it a lot of sincerity and emotion, was especially missed. Maybe WW84 could've survived without Snyder, it probably could've survived without Fuchs, but it absolutely could not survive without Heinberg. WW3 HAS to get Heinberg back to return sincerity to the franchise.

The sequel script was severely lacking without Heinberg. Was a huge mistake not bringing him back.

This is my favorite film in the DCU

Absolutely love this movie. Honestly it’s the first movie I ever saw where a female protagonist wasn’t actively objectified. Yes they saw her as beautiful, but she was just always about being strong and good. It was so powerful to see in theaters.

WW is the one shining glimmer of how truly amazing the DCEU can be, everyone basically acknowledges that this is an incredible film. To answer your question Diana canonically has no kryptonite, Batman who's super power is preparation? lmao actually told Superman that he has a contingency plan on how to stop every single one of the justice league members in case they went off the rails, except for Diana.

Lee

So disappointed it'll be in two parts 😪 but yeah whatever do not watch WW1984 unless you want to torture yourself.

This was really good though definitely some silliness here and there. I'm often not a fan of WW1 or WW2 stuff when it comes to such things as they spend too long making references to it rather than developing the story or characters. I think this movie managed to not do that too much though which is good. Diana and Steve's relationship was really good and him at the end did get me a bit teary so obviously they did well with their characters. I did actually predict who Ares was 😂 I honestly had no clue about Wonder Woman's powers or history before this, she is way stronger than I thought. With this movie I'd almost see her as stronger than Superman even, I guess it depends on the situation though for both of them. Looking forward to JL as not seen the famed Snyder cut so will be exciting.

If no one mentioned this yet, you have to watch the Snyder Cut for Justice League. The theatrical version is so trash but the cut is def worth it!

Ruby

Makes sense now. Heinberg's absence is definitely felt in WW84.

Ruby

I agree. It would've killed the movie's vibe if the focus was on her 'hotness' rather than her power. Joss Whedon used to do this to Scarlett in her earlier years as Black Widow and I hated it. It's so exploitative and cheap.

I know what you mean about the Superhero relationships. For a really good Superman/Lois you should watch the series Lois and Clark from the 90s... And Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher are pretty easy on the eyes too
