they did such a good job w the casting in this one, a lot of the actors actually looked a lot like the kid actors. also adrian scene was based off an actual event of a guy named charlie howard

YESSS, such a long overdue reaction lol! Can't wait to watch!

idk what compelled me but I went and saw this at the BFI IMAX... scary on the biggest screen 😓

I actually read the 1000+ page book and I think they did the best they could to streamline the plot; it gets EVEN MORE out there/lots of source material left on the cutting room floor. For example, a violent/brutal event usually signals when it wakes up (hence the attack at the beginning of the film). I thought it was also smart to still incorporate the flashbacks in this one, since the childhood events were more interesting/impactful than when they are adults. Random fact: I actually met the actor who played the younger version of Mike (the one who stays in Derry) this summer on my flight. Super cool guy 😎

And yes, they used the same actress for Eddie’s wife that played his mother in part 1 🤣

Also, I think you're right. I haven't read the book, but I think I heard somewhere that at the end of it, instead slicing their hands, they had an orgy. Each one of the boys slept with Beverly. Pretty messed up stuff.

Yeah S.K basically wrote them running a train on her which is ugh. I haven't read the book but I think it had something to do with the god turtle or something

From what I remember, it had more to do with them forging a deeper bond with each other. After they defeated IT the first time, they got lost in the sewers and were even starting to forget each other (because the only thing bonding them was Pennywise and he was defeated/hibernating). King still could’ve chosen a less gross way to do it though 🫣

Agreed. The filmmakers Andy & Barbara pointed out how often movies cast older versions of a character that look nothing like their child version, so they made a point not to do so. I also like that they asked each child actor who they would like to see playing the older version of their characters and even managed to cast some of their choices. So well cast.

Finally! I was looking forward to this one. In my opinion, this one was better than the first mostly because it brings the story to a close and adds even more layers to each character. It's uncommon to watch a horror movie with an actual story that keeps you engaged, as opposed to filler stuffed in between scares. I believe some parts were left out of the movies intentionally. For example, in the first movie, the final scene with the kids in Pennywise's lair ends with all of the boys having sex with Beverly as some sort of bizarre bonding ritual. It was unnecessary and added nothing to the story, plus the child actors were all minors so parents would have a field day with that storyline had it been included in the movie. Additionally, in the book, Beverly was sexually asssaulted by Bowers and his gang of bullies. I'm rather glad it was deemed unnecessary because the audience understood Bowers and his gang were awful without the addition of a somewhat traumatic scene involving minors. Certain subtle details stood out to me. Beverly's reactions to certain things - panicking/covering her eyes in fear during the restaurant scene when Mike loses his shit on the table, flinching/holding her bruised wrists when Ben gently tries to stop her from leaving the hotel and he asks her to tell him what she knows. It's a subtle yet accurate portrayal of an emotionally/physically abused person. Also, the fact that most of them married either their abusive parent or someone who is just all wrong for them is perhaps pointing to the reality that despite being financially successful, they are all still a bit damaged from what happened to them as kids. I'd still recommend reading the book. I've forgotten some of the details, but there were things that were not included in the films that may help you better understand some things that can be confusing. All in all, good reaction. Not your "jumpiest" by a long shot, but this movie wasn't really about that. 😉 If you want a break from the overly "jumpy" horrors but want to stick with the Halloween theme, watch Ready or Not. It's a great blend of horror and comedy.

The sewer group sex scene is just... so weird. And given the ages of the characters, as much as I love Stephen King, it feels pretty gross of him to have put it in there - especially in such detail - in the book.

Ruby

Agreed. I love King too, but sometimes I wonder what was going through his mind when he thought up such an inappropriate scene involving children that adds nothing to the story. It was totally out of left field and I felt given what Bev's character had already been through (sexual abuse), it was more traumatic than bonding.

haunting of hill house!!!!!! :D
