This film exhausted me from laughing too much and I'm pretty sure is the oldest film we watched so far

Definitely let me know if I should watch others similar as I do like to try different types of films out!

"Monty Python" was a 6-man comedy group (British, with one American member [Terry Gilliam] who did all the animations and played small roles). They became known with their sketch comedy series which played on the BBC in the early 1970s, and became extremely popular in North America as well, and kind of began the success of British comedy series on US public television. This was their first attempt at a continuous story, and for me remains their funniest film. Rather than try any others of their movies, I would repeat the suggestion of @Mads and suggest you look at Fawlty Towers. It was created by and stars John Cleese (who played Sir Lancelot in this) as the surly proprietor of a seedy little hotel in Torquay. There are only 12 half-hour episodes, and even after all this time I consider it the most consistently funny TV series ever made.
