The animation is definitely different, some I think works better or lines up better with the changes, and some feels a little off. I think with the fights a lot of it would have been almost impossible for the normal animation style though. So swings and roundabouts really. Is interesting that you said right now that maybe S1 is your favourite. I think with rewatching all of it so far I think in like a hype way I would have to say S3 (Part 2) all the way but the amount of appreciation I have for S1 as it has gone on is immense. It really was amazing with how they did everything and it just has a feel about it that is slowly eroded with each season, even if the reveals and hype increases. S1 is certainly not given enough credit from what I've seen of comments for sure. I think that is why S4 no matter how good it gets doesn't quite feel right to me as it's lost all the feeling from S1, it is a completely different show. It's all connected well storywise, masterfully done in fact, but is a very different beast 🐵 now.

Mappa didnt have much time to animate this season in both parts thats why they used CG, they use CG sometimes anyway but not at this extent, i dont mind the CG personally but im happy they didnt use CG as much in part 2, cant wait for more of your reasons :D
