Unpopular opinion: The Dark Knight Rises is my favorite of the Nolan Trilogy 🤷🏻‍♂️😂 Despite the fact that the Joker was a better villain, the performances from everyone as a whole, the music, and the callbacks to the previous films really elevated this movie emotionally (for me at least). Not gonna lie, every time I watched this in the cinema (three times lol), I was sobbing. Michael Caine broke my heart in this one 😭😭😭

And yes, they filmed that plane scene in the beginning practically (I’m sure not all, but the majority of the exterior footage). I remember seeing the paparazzi footage of them filming it and was amazed how it turned out in the movie.

2021-12-24 14:31:41 right after the Robin reveal Lucius found out that Bruce managed to fix the autopilot issue on his jet. So he would have left the jet before it would have went all the way out into the ocean and blew up :)

personally, Rises is not my favorite. It's not bad at all, but some of the solutions are just too much of a stretch for me. Like, a terrorist holding 12 million people hostage for 5 months - and the US government decides to do nothing about it? For 5 months? No secret infiltrator, technicians, spies, agents, anything to get in the city and take care of the triggerman threat? I mean, even the little plan Gordon and his people came up with were perfectly valid. Identify the van, block radio signals, and then take the bob away. Plus, the motivation of Bane and Talia for leaving Batman alive and putting him in that prison hole was also a little too comic vilany for me. So, it was just a little too much for my taste. But there were great plot twist, great questions and issues raised, great scenes, really good characters, so there's that. But still not my absolute favorite.

This was a really good end to the amazing trilogy. I think after watching all three again I think this film was my least favourite out of them. I think the villain was cool and the stakes were high, but the motivation didn't make any sense up until the reveal right at the end, which then devalued Bane to me by making him a massive simp. This was also originally supposed to spur on other films with Robin at the very least, I can't remember what happened to that film. I think all of those future DC heroes popping up in the final film took time away from Batman and the villain. Probably needed to be introduced in a minor way in the previous films at least. Otherwise everything else was really good- action, dialogue, acting, music. I'm not actually sure which my favourite is of the other two. I think the first film set up the second perfectly. They are both really good in different ways as well. I think Dark Knight might be slightly better though because it was a clever story and really well acted. As a standalone superhero trilogy or even as individual films they are a total standout.

Lifehouse

I'd suggest the 4 Lethal Weapon movies. They are great and its a nice change of pace.

have you seen nolans Memento and Inception?

2021-12-24 14:31:41 I like most others think The Dark Knight is a better film and Joker is a huge part of that; however, TDKRises is a solid film. The 'epicness' of it makes it the perfect way to wrap up the trilogy. If the stakes weren't this high, I don't think the impact would be significant enough to make it memorable. Bane & Talia weren't my favorite villains, but the surprise twist made it better. Also, the presence of Catwoman was a big plus for me personally.

This movie seems to get a fair bit of flak, I think mostly because it came after The Dark Knight which was so well received and set expectations so high for the third movie, but I actually think this one is my favourite of the trilogy. I will admit some of the storytelling is a little clunky and there are some wild leaps in logic, but it's so emotionally satisfying as a final chapter that it's hard to care about the movie's faults. It's epic, beautifully shot, the whole cast is amazing (special mention to Michael Caine for having me in tears a few times lol) and of course Hans Zimmer's music just hits harder than ever. A wonderful ending to Bruce Wayne's story. Really glad you enjoyed the trilogy so much, it was awesome re-watching with you 💙

Inhuman Paradox

I think the main reason it got so much flak was timing. The 2000s were filled with dark, gritty CBMs and by 2012, people were a little tired of them. They started to gravitate more towards lighter escapism like The Avengers. Now with stuff like Logan, Joker, the Snyder Cut, and The Batman trailer getting a lot of praise, it’s like we’re heading into a new renaissance of darker CBMs as people have now become as tired of the lighter ones as they were of darker ones in 2012. A film like Man of Steel probably would’ve done a lot better now than it did in 2013 for example.

Are you watching in x0.75? It keeps falling behind when I try to sync with the film

I love the whole trilogy but TDK is definitely the best of them in pretty much every way, mainly because of the Harvey Dent character arc. I hope you react to all Chris Nolan's feature films, starting at the beginning with Memento, my favourite. Inception is his masterpiece but Interstellar is also incredible. Oh and please carry on with the Alien films.

he is watching the 2h45 version, you might have the 2h40 version which is why yours goes quicker than his

Hope you’ll react to some more DC movies like: Man of Steel, BvS, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Justice League: Snyder’s Cut, etc.

Thank you so much, The Dark Knight is my favorite Batman film and wanted to see his reaction :)

Some streaming Services have 8 think 1 or 2 frames per Second more, which doesn't sound a lot, but over a few minutes is pretty noticeable. I had that when i wanted to watch a watchmen watchalong and I could only watch it on sky ticket, where it was just a little bit faster

The best way to round off a Batman marathon is with the Lego Batman Movie. It's obviously aimed at a younger audience, but it plays with all of the Batman mythos, from the 60s to the Snyderverse, and it's great for a laugh. The Dark Knight Rises is a little underrated, I feel, which is probably inevitable after the triumph that was The Dark Knight. The second half of the film is a love letter to the French Revolution, and posits that if the powerful don't do something about inequality and injustice, someone worse will come along and do something. Bane's coat is clearly reminiscent of a frock coat from the revolutionary period, and the show trials a (down to Bane knitting) are a clear reference to The Terror that followed the revolution. I love that Bane was out-Batmanning Batman. He became a symbol, an terrible idea in Bruce's head, and it took Bruce learning about Bane's past to humanise him and turn him into something beatable. Meanwhile Bane has always called Batman by his real name, Bruce, to humanise him and it takes a messianic act, the resurrection and escape from the Pit to make Batman more than a man to Bane.
