The World Through Stories

Joined up for your YR reactions. Series 2 takes it all to a new level.

I haven’t watched this episode with you yet but I can say it might be my favourite. It’s not like there is a bad episode of this show, that’s why I love the fact there’s only 6 of them, they don’t drag anything out or add anything unnecessary to the story.

Jeff Cabrera

This is perhaps my favorite episode simply because Wilhelm finally acts on his feelings for Simon, despite all of his suppression and doing everything he can to numb/distract himself from the pressure he’s under. (He remembered Simon’s number, even after he deleted it from his phone 👀😂) Joking aside, there is something therapeutic about watching someone embrace their true self. Even with all of the other romantic scenes in this episode, just having Wilhelm hug Simon (knowing that’s what he truly wanted and needed) made me tear up. In interviews, both lead actors stressed the importance of using an intimacy coordinator (not sure if all shows do this) and how much it enhanced their performance not only during the romantic scenes, but with all of their scenes together. And it definitely shows, not just every touch but every look just holds so much more weight. It’s beautiful 🥺 ***Fun Fact: The director allowed the actors to improvise during multiple scenes this season. The football field scene was one of them, including the infamous line “None of the people are real, they’re just pieces of metal. But I really like you, and that is very real.” Confirmed by the director that the actor playing Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding) came up with that line while they were shooting.

Kind of a heavy episode, especially considering the ending of episode 3, like just imagine not only losing your brother but suddenly you have a giant responsibility put on your shoulders that you never expected to have. I definitely do not envy any royals, it must be really difficult. One of the things I really love about this show is how the actors actually look the age of their characters, like Wilhelm with his acne even, and he's the main character - show me that happening in any american show, like it just doesn't, which is so irritating to me. It feels very real this show, and I love that. The acting really is amazing. Excited to see what they'll do for season 2 next year, and if it'll be the same length and runtime or if we'll get more episodes, hopefully not fewer at least :)

This episode felt like it had so much in it. Given so much emotion and character from a lot of the scenes and actors. I thought got a lot more from Wilhelm this episode as well, a lot of different strong emotional scenes. He is possibly my favourite character now. Sara is a good character but not had enough from her. I like Simon but he has done some questionable stuff in the last couple episodes. August is just all over the place, his decisions are so weird. I hope he isn't going to mess it all up, but he is bound to in some way at least, even if it ends up positive. The way he treated Felice though was horrid. Glad we finally got some (almost) private intimacy between Wilhelm and Simon. Even if a drug cocktail started it all, it was still sweet all the scenes from the football field onwards. Could feel it that Wilhelm needed Simon in those moments of pain. The hugs were almost more impactful than the rest. I think this was the best episode so far for a number of reasons. With two episodes left I have no clue how it's going to end. I know there is going to be a season 2 but no idea if they planned for that or not. I think the contrast between this and Love Victor is interesting. I think one of my issues with Victor and Benji is they didn't show many intimate moments on screen, or if they did they were extremely quick. Would love to see the extended shots from Young Royals in a show similar to Love Victor. Seb you always apologise for talking too much or too little in a reaction 😂- I've personally not had a problem once in any of your reactions to how much you talk. You always hit the right balance for whatever you are watching.

I occasionally see people on Youtube asking if these Patreon shows will ever go to Youtube. I know this is just one person's opinion and that the decision is yours, but I would perfectly be fine with that, given a gap of a few months. (I'll watch and comment on the episode later, not today.)

Pretty sure that they just started filming season 2 recently so there's something to look forward to for next year! It really is impressive how much they manage to do with so few episodes, every scene has meaning. Definitely a different vibe from Love Victor but I still love both of them for different reasons. And don't worry about talking too much, that's why we're here! Looking forward to the last two episodes (even if they'll probably break me emotionally for the million time...) 🙃

I don't have any inherent problem with him uploading everything to Youtube. However, I think it's nice that Seb can feel safer and more care-free with Patreon Exclusives to say or do what he wants. I don't know if exclusives create more of a community on here or not, but if it does then I think that is a good thing. Obviously it's a time thing as well, Youtube editing takes a ton of time, which means less content elsewhere.

James Allen

Good God, this show has only made me feel more touch-starved 😂😂

Gambit

Can i just say, when you were feeling something during the "Revolution" football field scene, I was so joyous! It's one of the most powerful scenes to remember of the season! xoxo

Alex

Yeah, it's easy for us to just sit and watch the reactions and forget about all the time and work he puts into them. I think if the way he's doing it right now works for him then that's how it should stay

Alex

Interesting thoughts on the sex scene, I think we're so used to sex scenes just being used for titillation that we forget sex can be a beautiful and emotional thing. It's difficult not to compare the show to Love Victor, this is definitely more of a drama though, whereas Love Victor is more of a comedy drama, and also geared towards more of a family audience I would say, so it's interesting to see the differences

Davide

That's a good point, Mark. If there's things he feels safer saying to a smaller group of people, then he should keep them exclusive. He can also consider whether he can edit around that, keeping only other parts of the reaction. Btw, I posted this comment on Patreon, instead of as a reply to someone who brought it up on Youtube in order to not have the publicness of that pressure Seb into anything.

Jeff Cabrera

Definitely had “Revolution” on repeat after watching this series 😅 Such a beautiful song for a beautiful moment 🥺

Lee David Russell

This is such a stressful episode, dealing with Wilhelm's grief, and his realisation that he may not be able to be himself anymore because of his position, and his rejection of Simon. Then just when we finally get a sweet moment at the end, they throw that cliffhanger at us haha. I love the chemistry between the two leads, they're both really good young actors, and I agree that their intimate moments feel really natural and well done, not cringey or awkward like a lot of love scenes on tv. Really enjoying hearing your thoughts on the series and looking forward to next week's episodes 💙

Gambit

Same! On tiktok that song is emphasized so much and i'm glad that it was one of the actor's improvised moments that resonated with everyone!
