This was a wonderful surprise. Your reactions are so great! To answer your question about the rules in old European warfare, there wasn't really a rule about when to fire, but guns make a lot of noise, so if people are constantly firing, you can't hear the orders from the officers and it just becomes chaos. So they had drummers play specific cadences to relay the officer's orders in a way that people could hear what to do next. Without things like radios, this was the best option. I hope that makes sense. Great job!
