A short improv test between 3 characters to test a voice effect. (The characters that are used in this post)

One character is supposed to give off the same energy as listening to an old cassette, or a scratched-up record... this character is super messed up, and I want their voice to be jarring and somewhat broken/corrupt reflect that (there's also some secret reasons for later). I had a lot of trouble finding what I wanted, because their voice still needs to sound comprehensible and also needs to not go too far into its imperfection to the point of being grating.

After a while, I found the solution in an unexpected place- a crusty vintage music plugin for mixing instruments in an entirely different program. It was never meant to be used on voices like this, but after some modification it works well, and I feel like it adds to the appeal.
