I can definitely understand why a lot of furry artists are reluctant to draw monkeys and apes. (myself included) With the similarities between many primates and humans, it's more difficult to find 'the line' of anthropomorphic balance between "too animalistic" and "uncanny valley guy in monkey mask".

Well, you have to give Jane credit for trying to learn the ape language.

Not mention the risk of the imagery of apes drifting into racial stereotypes. That's why the use of lemurs instead of monkeys in the Madagascar films was a smart move for Dreamworks.

Some people do apes serious.. some do them "not quite so serious".. and then there's sir EWS.. only he can do "serious" and still give all his watchers a great belly laugh!!

She’s trying. I think she’s done well. The interesting thing here is that you’re anthropomorphising real gorillas in a furry world. Many furry worlds tend to operate along the lines of having anthropomorphic animals who are essentially human, and then real animals who are not intelligent in any way. Whereas here the line is even more blurred.

Barefoot but wearing evening gloves? And where the heck did she get the gloves anyway??
