All Dis Pater cares about is Being Leader, and staying safe from the outside world. He'll twist fear and love, employing them as weapons. So what, personally happened to Dis Pater during the Great War? What made him so _afraid_ of the surface world?

Well, for one, he lost absolutely everyone he knew among dragonkind, and probably most other friends and allies as well. I find it understandable if he's still traumatised.
