Hiya!

Well, we're coming in hot with another album listening party. This time with RM's Indigo. Which I still can't get over how long we've waited to do this album. Seven months!

Every time we sit down to film, I usually lay out all the Post-It's out for Allison to choose from. And she NEVER wants to do the long run type things. Which is why the WINGS solos have been put off so much. I think it's her ADHD. It's best if we do the filming sessions in chunks so that she doesn't get overwhelmed.

But yeah - that's the process on how we do the sessions. It's usually up in the air on what we watch but having these polls and seeing what you all want us to watch - that's SO MUCH BETTER!

And I'm so glad you choose SEVENTEEN and RM's albums.

And I can't wait to check out Ateez and The Rose.

I also can't wait til Allison is officially back from camps so we binge the long form content. I want to In The Soop's and Jinny's Kitchen and Rise of Bangtan and all the k-dramas.

Anyways, I'm getting side-tracked. I love how RM's so thoughtful and genuine in his music. And I love how he puts all that emotion into the lyrics and also I love that little dance he does with the shoulders. Also WHO BROKE HIS HEART and inspired some of these songs?

I love that he collab'ed with so many people throughout the album. And that he did little concerts and live sets. He's so talented!!

I still have no idea what was happening in that Closer music video.

I do have to make a correction. I thought Tablo was from LA, but when I was doing my fact check I found out that he's Canadian. So my bad. Whoops.

That's it for now. We'll do more album listens in the future! I kind of love doing it this way - I hope you're enjoying watching it with us too.

The movie used in the Closer video is Decision to Leave. It is a Korean film that competed at Cannes in 2022, and the director Park Chan Wook won best director. It's a noir, mystery, thriller, romance amalgam. It is very moody and RM shared it on his Insta feed and spoke about the film a number of times. This lead to ARMY talking about how his song, Closer, would match up well with the film; and the video came from that. The movie is one of those moody feeling films that stay with you. People love or hate it as it is ambiguous in it's story telling to an extent. The leads are as Allison guessed, a detective and a person he is investigating for a murder. It weaves in and out of feelings and connections between the two and with the other surrounding them (his wife who he only sees I think once a week or on the weekends because of her job). And since the video already spoiled the beach scene, yes she does dig a pit on the beach and stand inside it where she lets it drown her and also bury her. He is seen desperately searching for her without knowing she is there beneath his feet in the sand.

Yay! I ADORE Indigo! it’s so wonderful. RM is truly such a phenomenal lyricist and poet. I haven’t watched but I’m excited to sit down and do so now. And I TOTALLY understand breaking things up. Honestly BTS has so much to process, ESPECIALLY Wings and the BU, so that honestly sounds like such a good plan.

I adore CHANGE as well. When it first hit on my first listen, I was like OH, OH OH...that's how you put an entire emotional experience and shift into not only lyrics but also music, beat, time signature...everything changes =P It is glorious. Fave songs on the album are Closer, Yun, Change, Wildflower; but this album lived on repeat for a solid month.

I like longer videos, but I am cool with short ones too. I love Indigo, but my favorite RM song is and oldie... "Joke". Excitedly looking forward to Ateez!!

Park Ji Yoon is a very well known artist, but an interesting connection that you might not be aware of is that she sang Coming of Age ceremony which Jimin and JK did a cover dance of for their first Festa Muster concert in 2016. You can find the video on youtube or on their weverse in the paid content of their BTS 3rd Anniversary Present the HAPPY BTS DAY PARTY video at 1 hour and 3 minutes into the video =P

Yeah, it's a weird one. It's one of those movies that you watch and you're honestly not sure how you feel about it except that you absolutely feel something. It lingers. I can see why it appealed/appeals to Namjoon. I just can't live in that emotional headspace for too long. I'd rather watch a fluffy k-drama with a happy ending in my spare time. Life is too difficult as it is for my entertainment to be difficult as well =P

Back after watching and when I tell you I learn something new every time I watch y’all. Allison just blew my mind with the musical metaphor in change pt 2 🤯 “We can work together but we dont” Wow That was one of my favs off this album and now it might just be my favorite. AND YES WHEN I TELL YOU THE NEED TO FIGHT WHOEVER HURT HIM IS STRONG! I feel y’all on that one 😂 Also I love when y’all get in your professional mindsets It’s so fun to watch and learn ☺️ ACTUALLY it would be so so cool if y’all took one of BTS more elaborate videos and broke it down in pro speak for us We always see vocal coaches break down their abilities as well as professional dancers, which is awesome and I love it, but it would cool to see if from a different perspective Just a thought!

This album has been on nonstop for me! It’s so good!! I’m so glad that watching this album listen along with us adds a little bit of a different perspective! It’s one thing that I loved about watching other reactors. I would never catch some of the music nuances or specifics on culture or literature or just some things just go over my head. But visual/creative director/art producer stuff. Omg I love it. And Allison with actual film director eye - it’s so good. The technicals on how to nail a shot and then also edit in post, there’s so much work involved! Kudos to the teams who make it happen. For real. I would love to do some more elaborate MV breakdowns. Any suggestions. We have Fake Love coming up on the docket soon (we just whizzed past all the Wings solos so Love Yourself is next). So we could do Fake Love and the Making Sketch. I haven’t see it either and that’d be cool to check out. If you have any other recs, that’d be great!

Am I watching the right clip? The one with drop move? I feel like that reminds me of Jin. I watched a clip on YouTube that’s like a minute long. It’s not what I was expecting but it’s still pretty impressive!

Joanne Garcia

Joke!! The neighbor boys were wanting to come back on the channel and they requested rap and dance music. I might line up Joke for them. I’ve actually been saving the Cyphers for them - I want them to blown away. But Joke is a classic.

This album is so good! I think my favs are Forgetful and Lonely. And No 2. I really like his chill vibe songs. Ugh - why is RM so good!

Joanne Garcia

Seriously tho! Gotta have a game plan to digest their discography! The BU alone is crazy intricate ... trying to be strategic here ;)

Joanne Garcia

Oh my!! I thought it looked like a movie ... I watched the MV a few times during edit and was like seriously still confused on what was happening. Maybe I'll check out the movie anyways (LA is always all about the artsy fartsy here) and try not to think about the spoilers at the end. But if it's getting rave reviews, maybe it's worth the watch! I'll just have to go in with the right mindset ... I like that you said "it lingers ... can see why it appeals to Namjoon." For some reason that totally makes sense. He's so intellectual!

LovelyPJM13

Oh gosh just saw this! A little late checking back on everything lol Oooo if you’re doing love yourself it would be cool to dive into Mic Drop and Idol because of their cool effects Fake love is great though because of their practical effects so that’d be awesome. I know there are others but staying in your vein of what’s up next that would be awesome 😁
